First-time Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina is back into the top-3 WTA rankings.
Elena Rybakina continued from where she left off in the WTA Riyadh Finals, as she beat Aryna Sabalenka to finally clinch her second Grand Slam title at the Australian Open 2026.
It was the perfect revenge after falling short of a triumph at the Australian Open back in 2023 against this very same opponent.
With this splendid campaign of the Kazakh, she has now stormed into the top-3 rankings. She had held this position previously when she hit her peak form back in 2022 and 2023. Rybakina will look to not stop here, and win more titles and Slams. As proven, when at her best, she can beat everyone on tour.
Iga Swiatek, who lost the quarter-finals to eventual winner Rybakina, stays at No. 2. However the margin between them is only 368, promising an intense rivalry to look forward to between the top three.
Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina are the best three players in the WTA field, and richly deserve to rule the WTA rankings charts.
Meanwhile, Coco Gauff has fallen to No. 5 after the marquee event. Defending champion Madison Keys bows out of the top-10, to No. 15 after suffered a round of 16 exit.
