Monica Seles is the youngest Miami Open winner.

The Miami Open 2025, a major hardcourt tennis tournament, will be held from March 18 to 30, 2025, at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Marking its 40th edition, the event is classified as an ATP Masters 1000 tournament on the 2025 ATP Tour and a WTA 1000 event on the 2025 WTA Tour.

Chris Evert was the inaugural champion of the tournament. Serena Williams holds the record for the most titles (8), followed by Steffi Graf with five. Martina Hingis, Venus Williams, and Victoria Azarenka have each won 3 titles in Miami, while Monica Seles, Arantxa Sánchez Vicario, Kim Clijsters, and Ashleigh Barty all triumphed twice.

Iga Swiatek won her first and only Miami Open in 2022, defeating Naomi Osaka in the final. It was a flawless campaign from the former World No. 1 as she did not drop a single set on her path to victory. Her triumph included victories over 14th seed Coco Gauff, 28th seed Petra Kvitová, and 16th seed Jessica Pegula. The Pole became the fourth woman to complete the Sunshine Double, cementing her place among the sport’s legends.

4. Serena Williams – 20 years, 6 months, 4 days

The most successful player to have played in the Miami Open, across genders is Serena Williams, who stands tall with eight titles. Her sensational run began in 2002, downing Capriati 7-5, 7-6(4) to lift the title for the first time. The American never looked back since then, as she retained her title the following year and won her third consecutive title in 2004, beating Elena Dementieva 6–1, 6–1.

Serena returned to the 2007 final, saving two championship points to defeat Justine Henin 0-6, 7-5, 6-3, then defended her title in 2009 with a 6-1, 5-7, 7-6(3) win over Jelena Jankovic. A decade later, she completed a second Miami three-peat, starting with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-0 win over Maria Sharapova in 2013, followed by dominant straight-set victories in 2014 and 2015.

3. Steffi Graf – 16 years, 9 months, 15 days

Steffi Graf is Miami’s second-most successful female tennis player with five titles. After losing to Chris Evert in the 1986 final, the German avenged her loss perfectly the next year with a comprehensive straight-set victory. Graf successfully defended her title in 1988 with a 6-4, 6-4 win over the American.

Graf won three consecutive Miami Open titles in the mid-1990s, starting with a three-set victory over Natasha Zvereva in 1994, securing her first Sunshine Double in the process. She continued her dominance by defeating Kimiko Date 6-1, 6-4 in 1995, before achieving a second Sunshine Double in 1996 with a commanding 6-1, 6-3 win over Chanda Rubin.

2. Martina Hingis – 16 years, 5 months, 29 days

Martina Hingis crushed two-time Miami winner Monica Seles 6-2, 6-1 to triumph for the first time in 1997, and three years later claimed the title once again thanks to a 6-3, 6-2 win over key rival Lindsay Davenport. The five-time Grand Slam champion enjoyed a dream run that year, winning three Grand Slams- Australian Open, Wimbledon, and US Open, and finished as a finalist at the Roland Garros.

1. Monica Seles – 16 years, 3 months and 16 days

Monica Seles became the youngest Miami Open champion when she defeated Judith Wiesner in straight sets in 1990. The Yugoslavian successfully defended her title in 1991 with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Gabriela Sabatini.
