Alex Perez (Alexander Salvador Perez) is an American professional Mixed Martial Artist, who competes in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in the Flyweight Division. He is one of the experienced fighters, who has been in MMA for a very long time. He had a total of 31 matches, in which he had won 24 and lost 7. Perez is about to fight his 32nd fight against Muhammad Mokaev at UFC Fight Night 238 (Rozenstruik vs Gaziev) on March 2, 2024. Ahead of his fight, Alex Perez showed up for an Interview with Khel Now and discussed a number of topics. Here is what Alex Perez discussed with us in the Interview ahead of his match.

How excited are you to step inside the Octagon after a long time?

“I’m excited, it’s been a while, just trying to get back in there and do, what I like to do”

Do you bring any changes to your fighting style to surprise your opponent?

“I’m just working on the game better every day. That’s what I do for a living. I’m in the gym all the time, helping people out, trying to get better, from the feet to the ground & ever between. And I’m going to show what we have been working on.”

Most of your losses came through submission, especially through choke. What’s your strategy to escape from getting choked out?

“Not to get choked, it’s simple.”

Your opponent Mokaev is undefeated so far. What’s your plan to make him consume defeat for the first time?

“I’m gonna go in there, be myself. Go in there, do what I do, have fun and get after like I’m used to. He’s undefeated, that’s great. And yeah, I mean he deserves all the hype. He is undefeated and a young kid so that’s cool. I’m gonna go in there and just stop him.”

Most of your matches ended in the very first round and your opponent usually drags it to the third round. What do you think of this bout? Will it be a first round finisher or a last round thriller?

“Wherever it goes man, it’s a fight, you never know what’s gonna happen. It can end in the first, it can end in the third. I don’t have control on that, but I could control what I can control, which is make him wait, be in good shape and put in the best efforts I can.”

Whether you will be calling out Alexandre Pantoja for a rematch and this time for the title?

“I’m just worried about what’s next, I’m not worried about the future. I got to take one step at a time. After I win this Saturday, let’s see what happens next. My job is to fight and not to mix so I’m just doing my job.”

Who is the one guy Perez always excited to fight with?

“I really don’t look at it like that, you know like I wanna fight with this guy or something like that. I wanna fight everybody I can, where it says that there is a best guy in my way, or just surround. I’m in this to be best not to be rageous for having one fight.”

Alex Perez’ Mount Rushmore

“It will be Jone Jones, Demetrious Johnson, GSP [Georges St-Pierre], Anderson Silva and I got put as a heavyweight up there. Just saw around DC [Daniel Cormier], who has lighter hands in the heavyweight and he’s up there.”

Alex Perez on who is his Idol?

“The one guy that I always wanted to meet was Anderson Silva. When I first started watching this sport he was doing things that were not seen before and I don’t find liking him at all, but did like watching him fight.”

We saw Michael Chandler stepping inside WWE and calling out Conor McGregor, would you be stepping into WWE to call out someone?

“No, I just stay in my lane, I just fight. I let those guys do all that.”

What’s your goal for 2024?

“I just wanna stay active. Get this job done on Saturday. Go from there and fight three to four matches this year and get back to the title shot.”

Alex Perez’ message to Muhammad Mokaev for Fight Night 238

“Be ready man, hopefully he’s healthy wherever he goes. It could be a good fight, fun fight, a lot of people got eyes on this. Because he’s coming up. It’s a young kid fighting the older guy, who has been in this sport for a long time. I’m just excited, hopefully I get the performance of the night, but I’m expecting a fight of the night.”

Alex Perez sends his message to his fans

“Thank you for lots of support, I really appreciate them, I wouldn’t be able to do what I’m doing without them. I appreciate it. He said that they are one of the important aspects of getting and getting the wins. I’m excited about this and all things getting done.”
