Alex Pereira is a two-division champion.

Alex Pereira is chasing UFC history. The Brazilian knockout artist, already a two-division champion at middleweight and light heavyweight, steps up to heavyweight at UFC Freedom 250 on June 14, 2026, where he faces Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title at the White House in Washington, D.C. A win would make “Poatan” the first fighter in UFC history to capture titles in three different weight classes.

Born on July 7, 1987, in São Paulo, Brazil, Alexsandro Pereira spent his early adulthood working at a tire shop while battling alcoholism before discovering kickboxing.

That decision transformed his life. He went on to win GLORY Kickboxing titles at both middleweight and light heavyweight, a rare double in the striking world, before transitioning to MMA in 2015. He made his UFC debut in November 2021 and has not looked back since.

Alex Pereira’s UFC career highlights

Pereira rose through the UFC at a breathtaking pace, winning the middleweight title at UFC 281 by stopping Israel Adesanya. He then moved to light heavyweight and became a two-division champion by finishing Jiří Procházka at UFC 295 in November 2023.

He made four successful light heavyweight title defenses in 2024 and early 2025 before dropping the belt to Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313. He immediately avenged that loss with a first-round TKO at UFC 320, then vacated the title to pursue heavyweight gold.

At UFC 320 on October 4, 2025, Pereira delivered one of his most devastating performances, stopping Magomed Ankalaev by TKO via punches and elbows at just 1:20 of round one to reclaim the light heavyweight title.

The finish was a statement, an instant rebound from his only setback in 2025, and set the stage for his historic heavyweight move.

Pereira faces Ciryl Gane in the co-main event of UFC Freedom 250 on June 14, 2026, at the White House South Lawn in Washington, D.C., with the interim UFC Heavyweight Championship on the line.

Pereira has checked in at 258 lbs for fight week, looking every bit a natural heavyweight. Victory would etch his name into the history books as the UFC’s first three-division champion.
