Anshul Jubli looking to 'dominate' on Quillan Salkilld's weaknesses at UFC 312

India’s own Anshul Jubli will battle Quillan Salkilld at UFC 312

‘King of Lions’ Anshul Jubli is the first Indian fighter to make a significant impact in the UFC, and alongside UFC strawweight Puja Tomar, they are the only two stars proudly representing India in the promotion at a global stage.

Jubli kicked off his professional MMA career in 2019 at India’s prominent MMA promotion Matrix Fight Night. The Indian lightweight star fought five times in the promotion and remains undefeated picking wins in all of his five outings.

Anshul then answered the call from the UFC and took part in the Road to UFC Season 1 where he defeated Kim Kyung-pyo to advance to the semi-finals where he defeated Jeka Saragih at UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs Spivac to get a contract with the promotion.

However, his momentum was halted in his next fight as despite an amazing performance he was unable to knock out his opponent Mike Breeden who rallied back in the third round and finished the fight via a knockout.

Anshul is preparing for a strong comeback at UFC 312 in Sydney, Australia as he takes on Australian rising star Quillan Salkilld in the early Prelims of UFC 312. The Australian star is on a seven-fight winning streak and has only lost his first professional fight. Both stars have similar MMA record of 7-1. Salkilld competed in Eternal MMA earlier and has been a Lightweight Champion.

Ahead of his fight Anshul sat down with several media outlets including Khel Now where he answered questions about the upcoming fight.

Are there any specific changes that you have made in this training camp considering the reach advantage?

Anshul is focusing on his own fight preparation and has done some chances which is required when you’re facing a different opponent. He also revealed that he has worked on where he needs to throw and where he needs to defend, “I have planned my preparation and my game plan according to Salkilld and I’ve prepared where I have to throw, how to defend and hopefully it will show in the fight.”

What are Quillan Salkilld’s strengths and weaknesses?

Anshul lauded his opponent stating that he is a complete fighter but also pointed out that there are multiple holes in his game that he will exploit in the fight. “I believe he has a lot of weaknesses; he is flat-footed and fights a lot against the cage, and there are more things which I would try and capitalize in the fight.”

When asked about a prediction for the fight, the King of Lions simply said, “Prediction for the fight? domination, I’ll dominate the fight!”
