The former two-division champion says his mindset is “unstoppable” as he begins the road to recovery.

Conor McGregor has delivered an encouraging update to fans after successfully undergoing knee surgery, making it clear that his latest setback has done little to dent his confidence.

The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion shared a video on Instagram confirming that the procedure went well following the ACL injury he suffered during his comeback fight against Max Holloway at UFC 329.

Rather than focusing on disappointment, McGregor struck a defiant tone, insisting that his comeback journey has already begun.

In the video, McGregor confirmed that his operation was a success and declared that he is already focused on rehabilitation.

“Now the real work begins. Comeback season starts now.”

The Irish superstar also addressed those who have questioned whether he can return from another career-threatening injury.

“The doubters can keep talking since I didn’t run from the pain and walked straight into it.”

McGregor explained that his mentality remains unchanged despite facing another lengthy recovery.

“I am on the road to recovery and that should tell you all about my mindset, straight into the surgery, knee repaired I’m on the road. My mindset is unstoppable, unbreakable.”

He ended his message by expressing gratitude after the successful procedure.

“Thank you God. Thank you so much God.”

Conor McGregor draws inspiration from sporting greats

During the video, McGregor highlighted several legendary athletes who overcame major knee injuries before returning to the top of their respective sports.

He pointed to NFL icons Tom Brady and Aaron Peters, along with former UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz, who battled through multiple ACL injuries before reclaiming UFC gold.

McGregor also praised former two-division UFC champion Georges St-Pierre, noting that he recovered from a second ACL injury and eventually regained full athletic ability.

The examples reflect McGregor’s belief that a successful comeback is still achievable despite another devastating injury.

The setback occurred just 69 seconds into his UFC 329 rematch against Max Holloway.

McGregor injured his knee while throwing a jumping roundhouse kick, tearing his ACL after landing awkwardly. Although he initially attempted to continue, the referee stopped the contest once it became clear his knee could no longer support him.

The injury spoiled McGregor’s long-awaited return after a five-year absence from the Octagon and marked another difficult chapter following the broken leg he suffered in 2021.

Current estimates suggest the 38-year-old could require nine to 12 months of rehabilitation before returning to competition.

McGregor has already identified International Fight Week 2027 as his target for a comeback and still has one fight remaining on his current UFC contract.
