Karol Rosa 'excited' for UFC Fight Night clash against Pannie Kianzad [Exclusive]

The 29-year-old will take on Pannie Kianzad at UFC Fight Night

When Karol Rosa enters the Octagon to face Pannie Kianzad on the preliminary card of Saturday’s Fight Night event at the UFC APEX, she will be three weeks away from the fifth anniversary of her UFC debut.

The now-29-year-old bantamweight made her debut in Shenzen, China, on the same bill as her colleague, then-strawweight champion Jessica Andrade, and defeated fellow Brazilian rookie Lara Procopio via split decision. Three more victories followed, establishing the PVT product as a budding name to watch in the 135-pound weight class, although the results have been inconsistent in recent years.

But, Karol Rosa spoke to Khel Now team in an exclusive interview where she spoke on her game plan and every other aspect related to her fight against Pannie Kianzad.

Karol Rosa feels ‘excited’ getting into UFC Fight Night

When asked how she feels going into UFC Fight Night against Pannie Kianzad, her translator Tiago Okamura said, “I am very excited, you know she is a striker and if you know I really like to go there and strike. So, I have a good feeling that this fight might be like my last one where we have few rounds of striking and put up a fair fight.”

After some inconsistent fights, we asked Karol Rosa if she prepared a game plan after some losses she faced in the past year. She said (translator Tiago Okamura), “Yeah I think something that I should have done in the last one and I probably did in this one is to have a more complete game. You know I was over-excited with the striking because it was a lot of fun but I think have to be a lot smarter and take my time to get an opening and take her down.”

Karol Rosa spoke on her impeccable career as she has never been knocked out

Karol Rosa has fought 23 professional fights in her career and it would be her 24th career fight against Pannie Kianzad but did you know even when she has lost 7 times, no opponent ever has been able to knock her out? She said, “I think I have the readiness to go out there and just fight and get into striking matches that many other girls don’t have. I think training wise I have a lot of people who keep pushing me and that of course helps me during the competition time.”

Karol Rosa spoke on how MMA changed her life. She said, “I think that if I hadn’t got this route cause early on I was training, fighting working a second job, worked as a waitress, I worked teaching classes & now I’m a full-time fighter. Probably, If I wasn’t a fighter I would have been doing a regular job and for sure I wouldn’t have been able to do what I was able to for my family & friends. You know this path gave me possibilities of reaching things that I probably wouldn’t & I’m very grateful for it.”
