Flyweights take centre stage this weekend in the main event of UFC 331.
UFC takes over Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California, this weekend for UFC 331, which will be headlined by a major title rematch between two Flyweights.
Following the injury that cost him the title in their first meeting at UFC 323 in December, Alexandre Pantoja is hungry to regain the title and prove that he is still the benchmark at 125lbs.
Standing in the red corner is the reigning Flyweight Champion, Joshua Van, who, since capturing the title, has defended it against Japanese sensation Tatsuro Taira in an incredible fight that saw the Champion halt Taira in the fifth round to retain the title.
With an unsatisfying end to their first meeting, fans are now waiting to see who comes out on top in the rematch. Can Van maintain the status quo, or will Pantoja continue chasing the title of Flyweight G.O.A.T?
The co-main event carries its own title implications. Arman Tsarukyan and Mauricio Ruffy meet over five rounds with a shot at the lightweight number one contender spot on the line.
Tsarukyan enters as the wrestling-heavy favourite for many, with the expectation that he’ll look to put Ruffy on his back rather than test him on the feet.
Ruffy, for his part, will need to have made real strides in his takedown defence and scrambling if he’s going to keep the fight standing long enough to make it count. Either way, the winner is likely to be next in line for UFC gold at 155 pounds.
