However, some fighters have transcended the sport, establishing themselves as dominant champions through remarkable title defense streaks and leaving an enduring legacy in UFC history.

Over the years, several top names have put together remarkable title defense streaks with dominating performances, cementing their place among the greatest champions in MMA history. Here we will take a look at five champions who hold the longest UFC title defense streaks.

5. Valentina Shevchenko (tied)

• Division: Women’s Flyweight
• Length of Title Reign: 1,548 days
• Successful Title Defenses: 7

Valentina ‘Bullet’ Shevchenko secured her spot on the list in her first Flyweight title reign, when she defeated Taila Santos via split decision at UFC 275. This win marked her seventh straight title defense after capturing the Flyweight title in 2018 against Joanna Jędrzejczyk.

After regaining the title in 2024, Shevchenko has kicked off her second title reign and has successfully defended the title twice against Manon Fiorot and Zhang Weili.

5. José Aldo (tied)

• Division: Featherweight
• Length of Title Reign: 1,848 days
• Successful Title Defenses: 7

‘The King of Rio’ José Aldo is tied with Valentina Shevchenko with seven consecutive title defenses. Aldo defended the Featherweight title seven times, starting from his win over Mark Hominick in 2011. His win over Chad Mendes in the rematch in 2014 marked his seventh title defense in his first reign.

Notably, Aldo suffered a devastating loss to Conor McGregor in 2015, bringing an end to his UFC title reign and his undefeated streak. The defeat also snapped his remarkable streak of 10 consecutive title defenses when his WEC title defenses are included.

Note: Amanda Nunes holds a combined title defense streak of 7 in the UFC, with 5 of those coming in the Women’s Bantamweight division while the remaining 2 in the Women’s Featherweight. This list feature longest single title defense streak which is why Nunes is not featured on this list.

4. Jon Jones

• Division: Light Heavyweight
• Length of Title Reign: 1,501 days
• Successful Title Defenses: 8

Jon ‘Bones’ Jones is regarded as one of the greatest of all time in the UFC, and his resume reflects his dominance and accomplishments. JBJ is in fourth place on the list with a dominant and destructive run at Light Heavyweight.

Notably, Jones never lost the title inside the octagon; his 8th title defense streak was shattered after his win over Daniel Cormier was turned into a no-contest by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) after Jones tested positive for the anabolic steroid Turinabol. Jones was also stripped of the title, ending his defense streak.

3. Georges St-Pierre

• Division: Welterweight
• Length of Title Reign: 2,064 days
• Successful Title Defenses: 9

Georges ‘Rush’ St-Pierre is among the elite UFC Champions who dominated a weight class, racking up records and accolades that stand to this day. Also regarded as one of the GOATs, GSP, after a huge upset loss against Matt Serra bounced back with a win over Josh Koscheck.

The win earned him a title shot against Matt Hughes, the only guy to beat GSP in his career after Serra. However, St-Pierre avenged his loss, capturing the title, before embarking on a historic run of nine title defenses, before vacating the title and announcing his retirement in 2013. GSP returned in 2017 to win the Middleweight title against Michael Bisping, before announcing his retirement in 2019.

2. Anderson Silva

• Division: Middleweight
• Length of Title Reign: 2,457 days
• Successful Title Defenses: 10

Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva achieved 10 consecutive official UFC middleweight title defenses during a historic championship reign that lasted from October 2006 to July 2013. This is the second-longest title defense streak in the promotion.

Silva’s upset loss to Chris Weidman ended his title reign and his undefeated streak that had been intact since 2006. The Spider also holds the second-longest win streak in the UFC with 16 wins; he was the leader for a long time until Islam Makhachev defeated Ian Garry at UFC 330 in August 2026 to break the tie with Silva.

1. Demetrious Johnson

• Division: Flyweight
• Length of Title Reign: 2,142 days
• Successful Title Defenses: 11

Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson achieved his 11th consecutive UFC flyweight title defense in 2017 at UFC 216 after defeating Ray Borg via submission. This was the fight that gave us the jaw-dropping mid-air suplex-to-armbar submission from Mighty Mouse.

Not just the gravity-defying armbar, Mighty Mouse’s 11 consecutive title defenses remain the record; despite multiple dominant Champions since Mighty Mouse’s UFC exit, no one has even come close to matching his incredible streak.
