Road to UFC season 3 featured 2 episodes on the same day
The Road to UFC competition returns in 2024, with elite Asian prospects battling for a UFC deal. Road to UFC Season 3 has changed things up slightly, with the women’s strawweight class replacing the men’s lightweight division. Returning will be flyweights, bantamweights, and featherweights, with the victor of each weight class earning a slot in the main event.
On Saturday, May 18, 2024, the Road to UFC Season 3, Episode 1 card began this year’s competition live from the UFC Performance Institute in Shanghai, China. Featherweights and women’s strawweight will be in action, with two fights in each class, as well as a highlight match outside the tournament.

- Featherweight: Zhu Kangjie defeated Tatsuya Ando by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-25)
- Featherweight: Shin Haraguchi defeated Hong Jun-young by unanimous decision (30-25, 30-27, 30-27)
- Women’s Strawweight: Feng Xiaocan defeated Kiran Singh by TKO (ground n pound), Round 1, 2:03
- Women’s Strawweight: Miki Motono vs Huang Feier (Huang Feier weighed in above the strawweight limit for her match against Miki Motono. As a result, the bout has been canceled, and Motono will proceed to the next round.)
- Welterweight: Bahatebole Batebolati defeated Kim Han-seul by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-29)
Welterweight: Bahatebole Batebolati defeated Kim Han-seul by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-29)
Season 3 of Road to UFC began with a welterweight bout between Bahatebole Batebolati and Han Seul Kim. Kim dropped Batebolati early with a left hand, but Batebolati quickly recovered. The fight continued with both trading blows, and Kim suffered a cut from a head clash in the second round. The judges awarded Batebolati a unanimous decision win, marking his fourth straight victory and improving his record to 10-1-1.
Women’s Strawweight: Feng Xiaocan defeated Kiran Singh by TKO (ground n’ pound), Round 1, 2:03
Feng dominated Singh with powerful strikes and controlled the clinch, quickly moving to mount and unleashing blows for a stoppage. The 22-year-old Chinese prospect’s dominant performance makes her one of the biggest prospects to watch out for in the tournament.
Featherweight: Shin Haraguchi defeated Hong Jun-young by unanimous decision (30-25, 30-27, 30-27)
Shin Haraguchi, after reaching last season’s lightweight finals, dropped to featherweight for another shot at a UFC contract. He started the tournament with a grinding win over JunYoung Hong. Haraguchi, a Japanese wrestler, used his strengths to repeatedly take Hong down and control him throughout the fight. Despite Hong’s efforts to get back up, Haraguchi remained dominant, landing shots and frustrating him. Haraguchi won via unanimous decision, advancing to the semifinals with his third Road to UFC victory.
Featherweight: Zhu Kangjie defeated Tatsuya Ando by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-25)
Zhu Kangjie delivered a statement win in the Season 3 opener of Road to UFC, out-working Tatsuya Ando with diverse striking. Zhu’s power advantage was clear, hurting Ando multiple times and controlling the fight. The judges unanimously favored Zhu, who advanced to face Shin Haraguchi in the semifinals.
