Some big matchups to look forward to

The UFC concludes its July calendar with a pay-per-view event. The fight event, UFC 304, has two title fights, both of which are rematches. In the main event, UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards takes on Belal Muhammad. Tom Aspinall, the interim heavyweight champion, will battle Curtis Blaydes in the co-main event of UFC 304.

Edwards and Muhammad first met in March 2021, as the headliner of a UFC Fight Night card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. That battle stopped 18 seconds into the second round when Muhammad was unable to continue due to an unintentional eye poke.

UFC 304 Main Card

  • Leon Edwards vs Belal Muhammad; UFC welterweight title
  • Tom Aspinall vs Curtis Blaydes; UFC interim heavyweight title
  • Bobby Green vs Paddy Pimblett; Lightweight
  • Muhammad Mokaev vs Manel Kape; Flyweight
  • Arnold Allen vs Giga Chikadze; Featherweight

UFC 304 Prelims Card

  • Nathaniel Wood vs. Daniel Pineda; Featherweight
  • Molly McCann vs. Bruna Brasil; Women’s strawweight
  • Mick Parkin vs. Lukasz Brzeski; Heavyweight
  • Oban Elliott vs. Preston Parsons; Welterweight
  • Sam Patterson vs. Kiefer Crosbie; Welterweight
  • Christian Leroy Duncan vs. Gregory Rodriguez; Middleweight
  • Modestas Bukauskas vs. Marcin Prachnio; Light heavyweight

Leon Edwards vs Belal Muhammad; UFC welterweight title

Edwards and Muhammad fought to a no-contest in March 2021, the only blemish on Edwards’ 13-fight, eight-year unbeaten record. So Edwards’ goal would be to win and permanently shut Muhammad down. But only time will tell if Edwards or Muhammad will have their hands raised high.

Tom Aspinall vs Curtis Blaydes; UFC interim heavyweight title

Tom Aspinall, the UFC interim heavyweight champion, wants to be “the best heavyweight ever” as he prepares for his rematch with Curtis Blaydes in Manchester on Saturday. The 31-year-old Salford native is set to face Blaydes at home on July 27, two years after suffering a knee injury only 15 seconds into his first battle with the American, which ended in a loss at the O2 Arena.

Bobby Green vs Paddy Pimblett; Lightweight

Pimblett will face his first Top 15-ranked opponent, King Green, in Manchester, England this weekend (Saturday, July 27, 2024). Although the fight is the final on “The Baddy’s” current UFC contract, he feels he has a well-planned path to his first professional championship chance.

Muhammad Mokaev vs Manel Kape; Flyweight

A high-stakes flyweight fight between Manel Kape and Muhammad Mokaev is slated to take place at UFC 304 this weekend. Mokaev (12-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) revealed on Instagram that he will face Kape (19-6 MMA, 4-2 UFC) in what is expected to be a 125-pound championship eliminator on July 27 at Co-op Live in Manchester, England.

Arnold Allen vs Giga Chikadze; Featherweight

Arnold Allen (19-3) has lost his last two fights and is keen to return to winning ways as soon as possible. It won’t be easy for him at UFC 304, where he’ll face Giga Chikadze (15-3), a fighter who has lost only one fight in the previous six years. The good news for Allen is that because Co-op Live is being held in his native nation of England, the audience will most likely support him.
