UFC 306 O’Malley vs Dvalishvili takes over Sphere Las Vegas on Saturday, September 14

As the UFC returns to Las Vegas for its 306th event, the stakes are bigger than ever for the organization’s highly anticipated debut at the Las Vegas Sphere. UFC 306 offers high-stakes fights and a unique watching experience.

The event, headlined by a Bantamweight title bout between Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili, includes a striker vs. grappler combination that has been around since the UFC’s inception.

UFC 306 will include prominent Mexican MMA fighters, including seven who were born in “El Águila Real.” Each of these will be discussed in detail below.

One may claim that a Mexican representative could win each of the ten fights. Despite being born in the United States, Brian Ortega and Raul Rosas Jr. have family links to Mexico.

Despite being born on the opposite side of the earth in Tbilisi, Georgia, Merab Dvalishvili, UFC 306’s main event opponent, has won over fans south of the border in recent years.

UFC 306 main card

  • Sean O’Malley vs Merab Dvalishvili (Bantamweight Championship)

Sean O’Malley vs Merab Dvalishvili (Bantamweight Championship)

Sean O’Malley, the powerful striker and current Bantamweight champion, will meet the relentless wrestler Merab Dvalishvili in an exciting clash of styles. The fight is listed as a pick’em on the betting odds line, indicating how difficult this bout will be to predict.

O’Malley will be defending his championship for the second fight, while Dvalishvili will be attempting to revenge his colleague and old buddy Aljamain Sterling while also claiming the 135 strap.

Alexa Grasso vs Valentina Shevchenko (Women’s Flyweight Championship)

Alexa Grasso defends her championship in a trilogy match against previous champion Valentina Shevchenko. Their previous fight resulted in a draw about a year ago, and since then, the two have competed in a season of The Ultimate Fighter, bringing their rivalry to a culmination today.

Grasso hopes to solidify her position as the division’s top fighter, while Shevchenko hopes to recover her title and achieve a much-needed victory, her first fight as an underdog in eight years.

Brian Ortega vs Diego Lopes (Featherweight bout)

Brian Ortega returns to the octagon to face Diego Lopes in a fight that might have major consequences for the featherweight rankings.

Lopes is on a five-fight winning run, with four finishes, while Ortega is coming off a career-best victory over Yair Rodriguez earlier this year. Both fighters have excellent submission abilities and good power on the feet, but neither has much defense, nearly ensuring that this will be a fight to the finish until one of them falls.

Daniel Zellhuber vs Esteban Ribovics (Lightweight Bout)

Rising prospects Daniel Zellhuber and Esteban Ribovics face off in a lightweight bout that might catapult the winner into the division’s rankings.

Both fighters have demonstrated potential in past battles, and their combined record of 28-2 highlights their skill set in the area MMA scene. But now it’s time for both of them to put their skills to the test, and whoever comes out on top may be in line for a huge battle in 2025.

Ronaldo Rodriguez vs Ode Osbourne (Flyweight Bout)

Ode Osbourne faces Ronaldo Rodriguez in a flyweight contest to start the main show. Both fighters are recognized for their speed and agility, so this will be an entertaining contest to start the night.
