Islam Makhachev creates history with a win at UFC 311

The MMA leader descended upon the lustrous town of Inglewood, California to kick off 2025 in style. The UFC 311 emanated live from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, and featured two high-stakes title clashes.

With a stacked card, the Ultimate Fighting Championship kicked off the year which initially began with a fight night event which was headlined by Mackenzie Dern and Amanda Ribas in a rematch where Dern emerged victorious.

In the co-main event of UFC 311, Merab Dvalishvili defended the Bantamweight crown (135lbs) against the highly skilled Umar Nurmagomedov. Despite tough opposition in earlier rounds the champion took over and showcased his durability and cardio, picking up the win via Unanimous decision.

Lightweight Champion (155lbs) Islam Makhachev defended his title against Renato Moicano in a short-notice fight when the original opponent Arman Tsarukyan pulled out of the fight due to back issues. Makhacev not only submitted Moicano but also broke the record for most consecutive title defenses.

Among the twelve champions to date in the division, no one was able to defend the title more than three consecutive times. Makhachev not only achieved that goal but also tied Kamaru Usman at a 15-win streak and is one win away from tying Anderson Silva.

UFC 311 Payouts for main eventers

The promotion generally does not disclose fighters’ purses, except when events are held in California, where such disclosure is mandated by law. On Saturday, California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Foster provided MMA Junkie with a full list of fighter purses. These amounts reflect only the disclosed payouts and do not account for off-contract bonuses, sponsor payments, or discretionary bonuses.

Islam Makhachev vs Renato Moicano

However, as per multiple reports, Makhachev’s base purse is approximately around $750,000 (₹6,49,28,250).
