UFC 313 will feature some huge names
Champions have kept their championships in all four pairs through the first two pay-per-view events of the year, with Islam Makhachev and Merab Dvalishvili retaining their crowns at UFC 311 and Dricus Du Plessis and Zhang Weili doing the same in Sydney last month at UFC 312.
On Saturday night in Las Vegas, the most active champion in recent years, Alex “Poatan” Pereira, defends his light heavyweight title against streaking challenger Magomed Ankalaev in what many consider to be the most difficult stylistic matchup on paper for the dominant Brazilian titleholder.

Alex Pereira (C) vs Magomed Ankalaev – Light Heavyweight
Alex Pereira seeks his fourth consecutive successful title defense, while Magomed Ankalaev aims to demonstrate his supremacy as the two men face battle with the light heavyweight championship on the line at T-Mobile Arena to finish out UFC 313. Poatan is 9-1 overall, including a perfect 5-0 record in the 205-pound division, with crowns in two weight classes and six victories over UFC gold medalists.
Ankalaev has been waiting in the wings for the last year, handling the duties that have been set in front of him with ease while just biding his time, certain that he would soon face the champion. The 32-year-old from Dagestan is unbeaten in his previous 13 fights, winning consecutive battles over Johnny Walker and Aleksandar Rakic last year to solidify his position as the top contender in the light heavyweight class.
Justin Gaethje vs Rafael Fiziev 2 – Lightweight
The co-main event has shifted from a must-see original matchup to a must-see sequel, with Justin Gaethje facing the returning Rafael Fiziev in a rematch of their thrilling UFC 286 fight in London. Gaethje, who was previously scheduled with Dan Hooker in a five-round battle, competes for the first time since being knocked out by Max Holloway at UFC 300. He looked fantastic in his previous two fights, capturing the BMF championship with a win over Dustin Poirier following his initial battle with Fiziev.
The first encounter between these two began competitively before Gaethje pulled away down the stretch, with the third round standing as the only round on which all three judges agreed, giving the round to Gaethje, including one who saw it 10-8 in his favor. But three years later, it will be intriguing to watch how things have altered and where each guy currently stands, and we should be in for an intense duel anyway.
Jalin Turner vs Ignacio Bahamondes – Lightweight
In the lightweight class, Top 15 stalwart Jalin Turner seeks to get things back on track, while Ignacio Bahamondes aims to hammer his way back into the rankings in this sure-fire barnburner that serves as the evening’s highlight battle.
Turner, who is now ranked 13th, comes into this fight after losing to Renato Moicano at UFC 300 and dropping three of his past four fights. Bahamondes, a part of the Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) Class of 2020, arrives in Las Vegas after winning back-to-back first-round stoppages and receiving consecutive Performance of the Night bonuses.
Amanda Lemos vs Iasmin Lucindo – Women’s Strawweight
Amanda Lemos will face Iasmin Lucindo in an all-Brazilian strawweight matchup on Saturday. Lemos, who will turn 38 in May, is at an intriguing stage in her career. Less than two years after fighting for the title and still ranked in the top five, the veteran made two appearances last year and is seeking to solidify her status as a dangerous threat to anybody wanting to enter the championship race at her cost.
Lucindo is at the opposite end of the scale, having only turned 23 in January and forcing her way into the Top 10 with a split-decision victory over Marina Rodriguez last year. She has won four straight fights since making her promotional debut and has a promising future as a championship contender in the 115-pound weight class.
King Green vs Mauricio Ruffy – Lightweight
Saturday’s major event begins in the lightweight class, with veteran King Green against talented Brazilian Mauricio Ruffy. Green, now 50 fights into his professional career, is looking to get things back on track after losing a first-round submission to Paddy Pimblett at UFC 304 in July. He looked sharp in his UFC 300 victory over Jim Miller three months ago and is the type of well-rounded, experienced fighter who should give an excellent gauge for Ruffy’s position within the division.
Ruffy contributed two wins to the Fighting Nerds’ great 2024 campaign, stopping Jamie Mullarkey in his strong debut and defeating James Llontop in a close fight at UFC 309 in November. Team captain Caio Borralho has touted the DWCS Class of ’23 graduate as the most gifted member of the group, and this is a perfect opportunity for him to prove his middleweight teammate accurate.

UFC 313 Makhachev vs Moicano is scheduled for Saturday, March 08, with the main card starting at 6:30 PM ET/3:30 PM PT, at 11:30 P.M. GMT (Saturday) in the UK and 5:00 a.m. IST (Sunday) in India. Please note that these timings may vary depending on the duration of the main card fights.
