UFC Fight Night returns to Atlanta this week!

It’s been six years since the UFC last visited Atlanta, but the most recent visit produced a memorable night, and while the stakes aren’t as high this weekend, the audience at State Farm Arena and those watching at home will still be treated to some incredible action inside the Octagon.

The UFC last visited the Peach State in April 2019 for UFC 236, which included Dustin Poirier’s interim lightweight championship win over Max Holloway and Israel Adesanya’s interim middleweight title win over Kelvin Gastelum.

It’s fitting that the promotion is returning to Atlanta now, since Poirier and Holloway are due to run it again next month in Poirier’s final fight, and the epic battle between Adesanya and Gastelum will be immortalized in the UFC Hall of Fame’s Fight Wing later this month.

Kamaru Usman vs Joaquin Buckley

Former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman returns to the division this Saturday to face surging contender Joaquin Buckley in a pivotal matchup.

Usman, fighting for the first time since a close loss to Khamzat Chimaev, is on a three-fight skid and looking to reestablish himself as a threat at 170 pounds. At 38, questions loom about how much “The Nigerian Nightmare” has left in the tank.

On the other side, Buckley has reinvented himself at welterweight, going 6-0 since dropping down from middleweight.

His 2024 campaign was particularly impressive, with wins over Vicente Luque, Nursulton Ruziboev, Stephen Thompson, and Colby Covington, finishing three of them. Buckley called for this matchup after beating Covington, and from a divisional standpoint, it makes perfect sense.

This fight will be a litmus test for both men: Usman’s ability to remain relevant and Buckley’s legitimacy as a title threat. Expect answers and potential shakeups by night’s end.

Rose Namajunas vs Miranda Maverick

Rose Namajunas and Miranda Maverick, both Denver-based fighters, collide in a high-stakes flyweight clash this Saturday.

Namajunas was more active in 2024 than in previous years, earning wins over Amanda Ribas and Tracy Cortez before dropping a decision to Erin Blanchfield.

Now, the former strawweight champ looks to reassert herself in the 125-pound ranks. Maverick, riding a four-fight win streak, went 3-0 in 2024 with solid victories over Andrea Lee, Dione Barbosa, and Jamey-Lyn Horth.

Long considered a potential contender, this is Maverick’s biggest test yet. A win over Namajunas could launch her into title conversation.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 14, live from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, with the main card starting at 10:00 PM ET/7:00 PM PT (Saturday), 3 am BST (Sunday), and 7:30 a.m. IST (Sunday, June 15) in India.
