UFC goes to Brazil this week!
The UFC makes its highly anticipated return to Rio de Janeiro this Saturday, marking the promotion’s third straight year hosting an event in the iconic Brazilian city.
Taking place at the Farmasi Arena, the 13-fight card is headlined by a pivotal lightweight clash between former UFC champion Charles Oliveira and Polish contender Mateusz Gamrot.
The bout carries significant implications for the division’s title picture, with both athletes aiming to solidify their status among the elite at 155 pounds.
For Oliveira, this event represents a long-awaited homecoming. “Do Bronx” will compete in Brazil for the first time in over five years and make his Rio debut under the UFC banner.
Known for his elite submission skills and dynamic striking, the former champion seeks to deliver another memorable performance in front of a passionate home crowd. Gamrot, meanwhile, steps into the fight on short notice, eager to seize the opportunity and disrupt the Brazilian’s resurgence.
Beyond the main event, UFC Rio 2025 offers a strong lineup featuring established names, promising prospects, and stylistically compelling matchups. With the atmosphere sure to be electric, the event embodies the spirit of “Brazil vs The World,” showcasing elite talent across multiple weight divisions.
Charles Oliveira and Mateusz Gamrot’s UFC Rio estimated payouts
Charles Oliveira returns home to Brazil for UFC Rio, where he faces Mateusz Gamrot in the main event. The former lightweight champion has been unstoppable on home soil, holding a perfect UFC record in Brazil with six wins and seven post-fight bonuses.
However, Oliveira is now seeking redemption after suffering a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria at UFC 317. Despite the setback, “Do Bronx” remains one of the UFC’s highest earners, thanks to his proven drawing power. He earned approximately $875,000 when he captured the lightweight title at UFC 262 and saw that figure climb to around $2.4 million at UFC 280 against Islam Makhachev.
His more recent paydays include $1.5 million for his UFC 309 win over Michael Chandler and $1.3 million despite defeat to Topuria at UFC 317. For UFC Rio, Oliveira is projected to earn between $800,000 and $1 million, excluding bonuses and PPV incentives.
Meanwhile, Mateusz Gamrot continues to build momentum both competitively and financially. The Polish contender pocketed $180,000 for his UFC 285 victory over Jalin Turner and around $100,000 for beating Rafael dos Anjos. Heading into Rio, a win over Oliveira could see Gamrot earn between $150,000 and $175,000, cementing his rise into the lightweight elite.
Other main card fighters’ payouts
Former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo stands to make $250,000 base and win payouts, a $75,000 promotional/PPV estimate, and could reach $425,000 with a performance bonus and victory.
Montel Jackson’s status as a ranked contender puts his base and win bonus at $100,000 each, and a $10,000 promotional bonus could bring his haul to $260,000.
Heavyweight Jhonata Diniz, new to UFC main cards, likely gets $15,000 base and win bonuses plus a $5,000 promotional estimate, topping out at $85,000 if he secures a bonus.
Hard-hitting Mario Pinto’s estimated figures are $12,000 base/win, $3,000 bonus, and up to $77,000 in total with a performance award factored in.
Featherweights Ricardo Ramos and Kaan Ofli each stand to earn $28,000/$12,000 base and win bonuses, $5,000/$2,000 in promotional uplifts, and $50,000 bonuses for strong performances, taking their potential maximums to $111,000 and $76,000, respectively.
Lucas Almeida and Michael Aswell Jr. round out the main card, with $20,000 and $10,000 base/win, small promotional bonuses, and a $50,000 bonus, elevating their optimistic event totals to $92,000 and $72,000.
