UFC 307 will see ‘Poatan’ defending his UFC Light-Heavyweight championship

Two years ago, Leon Edwards pulled off a surprise victory for the UFC welterweight championship with a last-minute knockout win over Kamaru Usman, ending up UFC 278 in a spectacular fashion. A year later, Justin Gaethje delivered a similar punch to Dustin Poirier to end UFC 291.

This week, the action returns to the Delta Center for UFC 307, which features many top contender matches, the retirement of a two-time UFC champion, and a pair of interesting title fights to round out the evening.

UFC 307 is set to air live on October 6, 2024, from the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, featuring an electrifying lineup of fights. The main event showcases UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira defending his belt against the explosive Khalil Rountree Jr., promising a striking-heavy battle.

The co-main event features a highly anticipated rematch between UFC women’s bantamweight champion Raquel Pennington and Julianna Peña for the title. Other notable matchups include legendary fighter José Aldo facing rising star Mario Bautista, and a compelling women’s bantamweight bout between high-level judokas, black belt Ketlen Vieira and Olympian Kayla Harrison.

For the third fight this year, light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira defends his title in the main event of a UFC pay-per-view, taking on rising challenger Khalil Rountree Jr. in Salt Lake City.

In the roughly 11 months since Pereira won the vacant title with a second-round knockout win over former champ Jiri Prochazka last year at Madison Square Garden, the 37-year-old Brazilian has successfully defended the title against ex-titleholder Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 and a second stoppage of Prochazka at UFC 303, extending his overall winning streak to four. “Poatan” remains one of the most feared finishers in the UFC, a lethal striker with incredible speed and technique for someone his size.
