India started their campaign in the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U-19 World Championship 2023 with a 0-3 defeat to France in their opening match of Pool B. The Indian U-19 team were no match as they went down 8-25, 8-25, 18-25 to concede a defeat.

The only time India managed to show a fight was in the third game when they lead France 9-7 at one stage. Apart from that, France pulled the strings throughout the match and produced a result in a little over an hour.

India will face France in their opening match of the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U-19 World Championship 2023. The match will take place in San Juan, Argentina. The FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U-19 World Championship 2023 will be held from August 4 to 13 with a total of 20 nations taking part in the competition. This is the 18th edition of the tournament in which the 20 best youth national teams compete against each other. Argentina is hosing the event for the third time having previously played hosts in 2011 and 2015, making them the first country to do so in the tournament’s history. Among the other nations, Mexico and Iran have hosted the competition twice each.

Poland are defending champions having won the latest edition of the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U-19 World Championship in 2021. They are also two-time winners of the competition alongside Serbia and Iran, while Brazil are the most decorated team in the tournament history with six titles and a runners-up finish. However, the last time they reached the podium was in 2005.

India are placed in Pool B in the tournament alongside France, Bulgaria, Japan and Slovenia. Following their clash against France, India will next face Japan before meeting Slovenia and Bulgaria.

A total of 20 nations have been divided into four pools of five each. Each nation will face the other teams in their respective groups once each in a round-robin system with the top ranked team from each group qualifying for the playoffs. The rest of the teams will play classification matches to determine final positions.
