India qualified for the tournament after finishing third in Asian Volleyball U-18 championships last year.

The 18th edition of FIVB Volleyball Boys U-19 World Championship 2023 is scheduled to held from August 04 to 13 in San Juan in Argentina. Brazil is the most successful team winning the title six times followed by Russia (3) and Iran (2). Poland defeated Bulgaria (3-0) in the last edition to clinch their second title.

A total of 20 teams have qualified for the tournament after getting through their respective regional qualifiers with Argentina qualifying as hosts. India qualified for the Championships after finishing third in the Asian Volleyball U-18 championships last year.

Also this is India’s fifth appearance at the FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U-19 Championship with the best performance achieved in 2003 finishing 2nd. In the last edition in 2021, India finished tenth in 2021, and will now look to perform better after putting up a good show at the Asian meet.

In the current edition, India is grouped in Pool B alongside – Bulgaria, Japan, France, Slovenia.
