Third edition of the league will kick off from February 15.

The Prime Volleyball League 2024 is all set to kick off on February 15, in Chennai. The PVL is India’s premier professional volleyball league, featuring nine franchises from different cities nationwide. The league is co-owned and exclusively marketed by Baseline Ventures, India’s leading sports marketing firm.

The PVL season 3 will witness some exciting changes in the format, with the introduction of the Super 5s stage. The Super 5s will feature the top five teams from the round-robin stage, competing in a mini-league to decide the finalists.

The team finishing first in the Super 5s will get a direct entry to the final, while the second and third-placed teams will play in the Eliminator. The winner of the Eliminator will join the first-placed team in the final, which will be held on March 21 at the SDAT Multi-purpose Indoor Stadium, Chennai.

The PVL season 3 will also see some fierce rivalry among the franchises, as they vie for the coveted trophy. Defending champions Ahmedabad Defenders will face a tough challenge from the hosts Chennai Blitz in the tournament’s opening game.

The Defenders, led by captain and star spiker Ranjit Singh, will hope to repeat their stellar performance from last season when they defeated Bengaluru Torpedoes in a thrilling five-setter in the Final.

The Torpedoes, who finished as the runners-up last season, will also look to bounce back and claim their first title. They will take on the Season 1 winners Kolkata Thunderbolts in their first match of the season. The Thunderbolts, who have a balanced squad with experienced and young players, will aim to regain their glory after a disappointing campaign last season.

The other franchises in the fray are Calicut Heroes, Delhi Tofans, Hyderabad Black Hawks, Kochi Blue Spikers, and Mumbai Meteors. The Heroes, who won the inaugural edition of the PVL, will bank on their home-grown talent and fan support to make an impact.

The Toofans, who have a new coach and a revamped squad, will try to improve their performance from last season when they finished at the bottom of the table.

The Black Hawks, who have some of the best foreign players in their ranks, will look to challenge the top teams with their power and skill.

The Blue Spikers, who have a loyal fan base in Kerala, will rely on their team spirit and cohesion to overcome opponents. The Meteors, who are the newest entrants in the league, will hope to make a mark in their debut season with their young and energetic squad.
