India will next face Kazakhstan on June 3 in the CAVA Men’s Nations League 2025.

The Indian men’s volleyball team defeated Pakistan in their crossover meeting in the second round of CAVA Men’s Nations League 2025. India will next face Kazakhstan on June 3 while Pakistan are scheduled to meet Iran on the same day.

Pakistan, who topped Pool A, entered the match as slight favourites given they are also the higher-ranked nation between the two. India, however, were on the game right from the go and dismantled their arch-rivals in 1 hour and 30 mins in straight sets 25-15, 25-19, 25-23.

India started strong with Jerome Vincent’s smash helping India to an early lead. There was no looking back from there, as the side wrapped up the first set in no time. Pakistan did level the scores at 8-8, but India mounted on the pressure to race ahead to 19-12 and eventually take a 1-0 lead.

In the second set, India led right from the start giving Pakistan no relief and although they tried to put up a fight towards the end, the lead was too big for any Pakistan comeback.

It was a similar story in the third set as India started with a 3-1 lead early. Pakistan did manage to get it much closer in the third set, pulling back from 12-17 behind at one stage to 21-23, but India managed to hold on their nerves to kill the tie and record straight sets win.

This was also India’s third consecutive win in the Championship after victories over Uzbekistan (3-0) and Turkmenistan (3-1) in the group stages. They had started the tournament with a 1-3 defeat against Iran, who topped Pool A, but have now gained good momentum heading into the semis.

In the earlier two matches in the day, Iran beat Kazakhstan comfortably 3-0 (25-15, 30-28, 25-15) while Kyrgyzstan fought back from 0-2 down at one stage to defeat Turkmenistan 3-2 (19-25, 21-25, 25-15, 25-21, 15–13).
