India’s volleyball star Chirag Yadav took to social media to share a lovely handwritten letter sent to him by a young fan in Japan during the ongoing AVC Men’s Volleyball Continental Championship 2026.
In the letter, a young fan from Fukuoka revealed how Yadav has inspired him and his friends, all of whom play volleyball. The letter, shared on social media platforms, has gone viral among volleyball fans.
“I’m writing to you because I wanted to thank you!” the letter read. “I’m the boy who hugged you in the restroom before the match against China. Thank you so much for showing us such amazing play!”
“We play volleyball too. And we will keep practising hard so we can be as cool as you one day. I just followed you on Instagram. My friends and I will always cheer you on!!”

Chirag Yadav was in top form during India’s Pool B match against New Zealand. The Men in Blue secured their first win of the AVC Men’s Volleyball Asian Continental Championship 2026, beating New Zealand 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-21) on Tuesday.
Having lost to China and Iran earlier, this victory against New Zealand kept India in contention to reach the quarter-finals. India finished third in Pool B with three points and can qualify for the quarter-finals as one of the two best third-ranked nations.
Yadav was one of the top performers for his nation against the Kiwis. The 21-year-old outside hitter scored 14 points, including three aces and one block. He was aided by captain and opposite hitter Jerome Vinith Charles, who scored a match-high 19 points, including two blocks.
However, India’s fate hinges on the Pool A match between Oman and Bahrain. If Oman win, they will overtake India and qualify for the quarter-finals.
However, if Bahrain beat Oman without dropping a set, the contest between Bahrain and India will be decided by point ratios. In all other cases, India will advance to the last eight.
