He is the first Indian player to sign with a Mongolian Volleyball Club.

Indian volleyball star Jerome Vinith has signed with Mongolian Volleyball side Tuv Mig Volleyball Club, which plays in the top-tier of the Mongolian Volleyball League—known as the National Volleyball League.

The player confirmed the news via a social media post on Wednesday, December 3. With his signing, Vinith becomes the first Indian player to sign with a Mongolian League club.

While this is a first in Indian volleyball, several Indian basketball players have previously represented clubs in the Mongolian Basketball League due to a new rule allowing Asian players to participate.

Vinith, who is already a mainstay in the Indian national volleyball team, represented Chennai Blitz in the most recent edition of the Prime Volleyball League—which is a franchise-based volleyball league in India since 2022.

He has previously played for Calicut Heroes in the PVL and also captained the franchise to its only title in 2024. After three seasons with Calicut—during which he was also named PVL’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) in season 3—Vinith was released by the franchise after last season.

He was picked up by Chennai Blitz at the auction this year for a whopping Rs 22.5 lakhs, making him the costliest buy at the auction. Vinith was also named the franchise captain but endured a difficult maiden season with the Blitz as the team crashed out with only nine points from seven matches.

They finished eighth in the 10-team league and failed to make the playoffs. Bengaluru Torpedoes went on to win the title, defeating Mumbai Meteors in the summit clash at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.
