Top 5 players to watch out for in Prime Volleyball League 2025

The 2025 edition of the Prime Volleyball League (PVL) is set to take place from October 2 to 26. All 38 games of the tournament will take place at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.
Ahmedabad Defenders, Bengaluru Torpedoes, Calicut Heroes, Chennai Blitz, Delhi Toofans, Goa Guardians, Hyderabad Black Hawks, Kochi Blue Spikers, Kolkata Thunderbolts, and Mumbai Meteors are the 10 teams participating in the tournament.
These teams will be divided into two groups each. Every team will play against the other four teams in their group and three from the opposite group. The top four teams after the end of the league stage (overall) will qualify for the semifinals, followed by the final.
The Calicut Heroes are the defending champions, having beaten the Delhi Toofans in the final last year. On that note, letâs take a look at the top five players to watch out for in the 2025 edition of the PVL.
#5 Saqlain Tariq (setter)
The Delhi Toofans skipper, Saqlain Tariq, was retained by the franchise for his impressive display last season. Tariq finished fourth among players with the most setters (97) and helped the Toofans to emerge as the runner-up.
It will be interesting to see if he can better his success ratio from 18.95% and help the team seal crunch moments to go deep again in the tournament.
#4 Chirag Yadav (Attacker)
âChirag Yadav was awarded as the Emerging Player of the Season in 2024. Playing for the eventual champions Calicut Heroes, Yadav finished ninth in the list of top scorers in the season. He scored 98 points and played a key role in helping the franchise win the title.
Yadav also won the Best Outside Hitter at the CAVA Menâs Volleyball Nations League 2025, where he helped India to finish as the runner-up. He will represent the Goa Guardians in the 2025 edition.
#3 Vinit Kumar (Universal)
Vinit Kumar has been one of the most consistent scorers in the Prime Volleyball League editions. In the first season, he secured 82 points and helped the Kolkata Thunderbolts to win the title, while also bagging the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
In 2023, Vinit continued his strong showing to amass 90 points for the Thunderbolts. In the last edition, he scored 86 points for the franchise. The 2025 auction witnessed him fetch INR 22.5 Lakhs by the Kochi Blue Spikers.
#2 Angamuthu Ramaswamy (Universal)
Angamuthu Ramaswamy holds a pedigree of performing with consistency since the 2022 edition, where he emerged as the best spiker with 83 points, while having a close to 45% success ratio for the Ahmedabad Defenders.
Ramaswamy returned with a better performance in 2023, finishing second with 111 points. He produced his best tally of 142 points in the last edition, cementing his legacy as one of the finest volleyball players in the country.
#1 Jerome Vinith (Universal)
PVLâs star player Jerome Vinith has tallied the most points in the last two seasons of the league. In 2023, he finished third among the highest scorers with 103 points for the Calicut Heroes.
Vinith produced a stunning performance in 2024, where he accumulated 161 points and emerged as the best spiker. He helped the Heroes to win their maiden title. He will represent Chennai Blitz in 2025, who splurged INR 22.5 lakh to secure his services.
