Neeraj Chopra extends support to protesting wrestlers
The Tokyo Olympics gold medalist joined the list of athletes to have shown the wrestlers' support.
Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra remarked that witnessing wrestlers protesting on the streets for justice upset him and urged authorities to act quickly.
“It hurts me to see our athletes on the streets demanding justice. They have worked hard to represent our great nation and make us proud,” he posted on Twitter.
Neeraj, who is now preparing for the World Championships and Asian Games, stated that things should not have gone the way they did and asked that the wrestler’s claims be treated in an impartial manner.

The continuing wrestlers’ protest has gathered pace across several sporting sectors, and a number of eminent athletes are weighing in on the movement against WFI Chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. While top wrestlers such as Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and others are active protesters, other members of the sports fraternity have contributed to the protest in various ways. Olympic gold winner Neeraj Chopra is the most recent addition to the list.
The wrestlers, who include Olympics, Commonwealths and World Championships medalists Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, and Vinesh Phogat have been sitting in at the national capital’s Jantar Mantar since last weekend.

Neeraj Chopra, who is now practising in Antalya, Turkey, and has his season-opening events in the Doha Diamond League on May 6, has received praise on social media after voicing his thoughts on the subjects.
Among those supporting the wrestlers are crickets star Kapil Dev and six-time Winter Olympian Shiva Keshavan.
