Mumbai saw a powerful convergence of tradition and modern sporting ambition as Olympic bronze medalist Aman Sehrawat concluded a one-day youth and akhada connect tour across the city on January 12.
The post-event momentum now firmly turns toward the Pro Wrestling League, set to begin on January 15, where Tiigers of Mumbai Dangal (TOMD)—owned by Aspect Sports, the sports arm of Aspect Global Ventures, in partnership with APCO Infratech—will make their much-anticipated debut.
A Paris 2024 Olympic Games medalist, Sehrawat engaged with college students and grassroots wrestlers across Mumbai, sharing his journey from traditional akhada training to the world’s biggest sporting stage.
Beginning his day with an early morning training session in Mumbai, Sehrawat later engaged with students during a college meet-and-greet in Bandra, where he addressed young athletes and sports enthusiasts, reinforcing the idea that elite success is built on discipline, patience, and years of unseen effort.
Aksha Kamboj, Executive Chairperson, Aspect Global Ventures, and Owner, Tiigers of Mumbai Dangals, said, “As a debuting franchise, it was important for us to start with the right message.
Aman embodies what we want TOMD to stand for, which is grassroots strength, discipline, and belief in the process. This tour wasn’t just about announcing our arrival in the Pro Wrestling League, it was about showing what kind of team we are building.”
One of the most striking moments of the tour was Sehrawat’s visit to the Matunga Akhada, where he observed training bouts, interacted closely with young pehelwans, and stepped into the training environment that defines Indian wrestling’s grassroots culture.
The imagery of an Olympic medalist standing on the same soil where future wrestlers train captured the spirit of the sport and the ethos Tiigers of Mumbai Dangal are building.

Tiigers enter the Pro Wrestling League this season as a new franchise with clear intent, having secured Sehrawat for INR 51 lakhs at the 2026 auction, making him one of the highest-paid Indian wrestlers in the league and a cornerstone of the team’s debut campaign.
“Mumbai has a different kind of fire,” Sehrawat said during one of the interactions. “When you speak to students or step into an akhada here, you feel the hunger.
I come from that same mitti. Winning an Olympic medal was a dream, but the process never changes. Representing Tiigers of Mumbai Dangal in their first Pro Wrestling League season is exciting, and I want young wrestlers to believe that their daily struggle matters.”
In addition to on-ground engagements, the tour featured media content shoots at iconic Mumbai locations, creating a visual narrative centred on focus, restraint, and inner strength and introducing TOMD to fans as a team that respects wrestling’s roots while stepping confidently into a professional league environment.
RP Singh, Director, APCO Infratech and Co-Owner, TOMD, added, “For us, this debut season is about building a foundation, not just a roster.
Wrestling in India has deep roots, and our goal with Tiigers of Mumbai Dangal is to respect that heritage while building a competitive, modern franchise. Aman represents that balance perfectly, and this tour was a strategic first step in shaping what TOMD stands for.”
With the Pro Wrestling League set to commence on January 16, Sehrawat’s Mumbai tour has helped set the stage for TOMD’s debut season, generating early buzz and underlining the franchise as one rooted in tradition, yet focused firmly on competitive excellence.
