The 29-year-old has been leading the charge in wrestling for the nation. She is known for her grit and determination which was visible especially during the Olympics. Phogat has had her challenges in the past but will make sure to overcome them at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Vinesh Phogat is competing at the Olympics for the third consecutive time. She made her debut at the Rio Olympics in 2016 in the 48kg freestyle and lost in the quarterfinals. Phogat suffered a dislocation in her right knee during the quarterfinals as she had to be carried away in a stretcher.

Injuries and defeats are a part of an athlete’s journey. Phogat managed to make a comeback at Tokyo Olympics and reached the quarterfinals again. This time she was competing in the 53kg freestyle event. Phogat lost to Belarusian Vanesa Kaladzinskaya.

Three years down the line, Phogat is back again, even more motivated to finish on the podium. She will be competing in the 50kg freestyle event. Phogat is competing at the Olympics for the third time and each appearance has seen her compete in different weight categories.

The women’s 50 kg freestyle event is set to begin as Phogat will be hoping for a maiden Olympic medal. She along with five more wrestlers will be seen from the Indian contingent.
