Money in the Bank 2023: Updated Match card and predictions
The MITB is one of the most celebrated PPV by WWE fans
If there is any WWE PPV celebrated other than WrestleMania then it is Money in the Bank. Several superstars fight their way to get on top of the ladder to claim their Championship opportunity by getting the Money in the Bank suitcase.
The idea of having money in the bank WrestleMania, WWE's premier event, first featured the bout in 2005. A group of wrestlers competed to grab a briefcase dangling above the ring containing a contract for a world title bout. The winner might cash in the contract at any moment, including during a match, adding a surprise element. The first Money in the Bank winner was the R-Rated Superstar, Edge. Then with the increasing popularity of the PPV, WWE started having Money in the Bank as a standalone PPV which is organized every year.
Last year, we saw Austin Theory and Liv Morgan winning the Money in the Bank suitcase, which Theory failed to cash-in, whereas Liv Morgan cashed in her Money in the Bank the same night on Ronda Rousey to become the Smackdown Women's champion.
This year it would be interesting to see, who would claim the briefcase. With new championships added in the WWE repertoire, it would be interesting to see how things plays out on WWE Money in the Bank 2023.
Here, is the updated Match Card of Money in the Bank 2023
- Men's Money in the Bank Ladder match - Ricochet vs Butch vs LA Knight vs Shinsuke Nakamura vs Santos Escobar vs Damian Priest
- Women's Money in the Bank Ladder match: Becky Lynch vs Bayley vs Zelina Vega vs Iyo Sky vs Zoey Stark
- Dominik Mysterio vs Cody Rhodes
- Finn Bálor vs Seth Rollins
These are the confirmed matches known for Money in the Bank PPV. Also, this is a prediction but at MITB 2023 we might also see, Matt Riddle vs GUNTHER for the IC Title and after this, week's SmackDown air's we might get to see whether Jimmy Uso will get his chance at Roman Reigns.
Men's Money in the Bank Ladder match - Ricochet vs Butch vs LA Knight vs Shinsuke Nakamura vs Santos Escobar vs Damian Priest
Because this lineup consists of wrestlers that have never won a WWE world title, whoever wins will most likely go on to win their first top championship on the main roster. While many fans would be glad to see any of these six men walk away with the trophy, one man stands out above the others as having the most potential to become a global champion.
They're all outstanding professionals in their own right, but nobody beats LA Knight when it comes to personality and mic work. Even the Mountain Dew Pitch Black bout at the Royal Rumble wasn't enough to stop him.
The MITB briefcase has always been a tool best placed in the hands of a heel since it allows them to gloat it over a babyface champion until the time is perfect to strike. Priest is the only other guy who appears to be a viable choice right now. He's been getting more and more opportunities lately, indicating that management sees something special in him. With the tension in The Judgement Day mounting, we might see the group fracture if Finn Bálor and Priest win their respective battles in London.
Predicted Winner: LA Knight
Women's Money in the Bank Ladder match: Becky Lynch vs Bayley vs Zelina Vega vs Iyo Sky vs Zoey Stark
Out of the 5 only Bayley and Becky Lynch have had their moments with championship gold and there is no way WWE is going to put the championship on any of the women's as their ongoing storyline doesn't go with both the top-rated women superstars to win the championship gold.
Zelina Vega winning could come as a huge shock but it would be applauded widely by fans around the world. But, the person with the most chance to win the Money in the Bank briefcase is the newly arrived NXT superstar, Zoey Stark.
The only way she is going to win is with Trish's help and it is going to happen that is what we predict. But, if we have to choose one more winner then it is definitely Iyo Sky as it has been clearly visible how irritated Sky has become by Bayley.
Predicted Winner: Zoey Stark
Dominik Mysterio vs Cody Rhodes
Monday's Raw included segments that resulted in the addition of two new matches to the MITB program, the first of which would pit Dominik Mysterio against Cody Rhodes. This is likely Dom's greatest singles bout since facing his own father at WrestleMania 39, therefore the young star will be scrutinized.
The 26-year-old still receives a lot of heat whenever he attempts to talk, but it's becoming more difficult to discern if that's just because the audience like booing or if Dom is genuinely successful as a heel. There is a distinction between actual heat and the audience having a good time.
Even while management will most likely start giving him some wins at some time, this is not where it will happen. WWE continues to promote Rhodes as a possible future world champion. It wouldn't make sense for him to lose to someone who scarcely has any win that didn't come as a consequence of Ripley intervening. This one is simple. Rhodes will triumph.
Predicted Winner: Cody Rhodes
Finn Bálor vs Seth Rollins
The second fight announced on Monday's Raw was Bálor challenging Rollins to a PPV bout for the World Heavyweight Championship. Rollins, ever the confident champion, agreed without hesitation, but depending on where this match lands on the card, he may have more to worry about than the Irishman.
If the men's MITB match takes place first, whoever wins might wind up cashing in on The Visionary during his battle with Bálor or on whoever wins, making them easy pickings in most situations. That, however, is a different tale. For the time being, the spotlight is on two guys who battled for the Universal Championship when it was initially launched seven years ago. Bálor won that match, but Rollins appears to be the safer pick this time.
As, WWE won't strip their champion just a month after winning the championship until WWE have some serious plans for Priest and Balor. Also, MITB winner plays a huge part in the process.
Predicted Winner: Seth Rollins
