The June 16th episode of the WWE Friday Night SmackDown was a great night, where we witnessed some of the exciting matches to determine the No.1 Contenders for the Undisputed Tag Team Titles, end of AJ Styles feud with Karrion Kross, tease of a break in Damage CTRL, and an emotional end to the Bloodline stable. This week is no different, WWE has booked some of the exciting matches and segments for Friday night. So, here is a brief preview on the match card of the June 23rd episode of the Friday Night SmackDown.

Match Cards & Predictions

Shotzi Blackheart vs Bayley

The match has its root on the June 9th episode of SmackDown, where Shotzi faced IYO Sky in a Money in the Bank Qualification Match. IYO picked up the win and qualified for the Money in the Bank Ladder Match after Bayley distracted Shotzi. For causing the match for Shotzi, Bayley is said to face her in a match this week. It is a MITB qualification rematch, where if Shotzi wins She will replace Bayley in the MITB match at London. IYO causing Bayley’s win could be a better way to initiate the feud for SummerSlam.

Cameron Grimes vs Baron Corbin

Cameron Grimes made his SmackDown in-ring debut against Baron Corbin 3 weeks before and picked up a quick win. The quick win over Corbin was impressive and had become a head turner among fans. Grimes entered the main roster with a win, while Corbin moved to the developmental brand with a loss.

However, Corbin has become the No.1 Contender for the NXT Championship and developed a fightful storyline with Carmello hayes. The two are said to have a rematch this week on SmackDown, which could still remain on the negative side for Corbin. Carmello Hayes could possibly interfere during the match and cause distraction to make Corbin lose another main roster loss similar to how Hayes caused Corbin’s MITB qualification match.

LA Knight vs Rey Mysterio

Last week on SmackDown, LA Knight faced Santos Escobar in a one on one match as a preview of the MITB ladder match. Where Escobar picked up the win by reverse roll down, after the match LA Knight lost his mind and attacked Escobar. Rey Mysterio came for the save, but LA Knight pushed Rey away and walked away with a stare. They will face each other this Friday in a one on one match, with LWO on Rey’s corner. The match could possibly create a feud with LA Knight and LWO for a longer duration, thereby LA Knight picking the win and LWO’s attack after the match is the possible finish for the match.

Women’s Tag Team Championship Unification Match

WWE Women’s Tag team Champions Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler are said to face NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn in a Championship Unification Match. After a dominant championship win of Rousey and Baszler, they walked into SmackDown and challenged the NXT Tag Team Champions as they were drafted as champions.

They accepted for a winner takes all match for the unification of titles. Rousey and Baszler are speculated to win the championships after a hard fight. This match has a potential to be the main highlight of the evening and there are high chances for a rematch at SummerSlam.
