Money in the Bank is a professional wrestling ladder match held by WWE, It occurs annually, where multiple wrestlers fight with each other to climb the ladder and clinch the Money in the Bank Brief cas which consist of a championship contract. MITB matches were hosted at WrestleMania for the first five years until 2010. The match turned out to be a huge success and became one of the fan favorites.

After a wide range of positive response and success of this match WWE had created a separate Pay Per View for this match. Over the years, WWE has witnessed some of the Iconic MITB matches, here are the top five most Iconic MITB matches of all time.

5. Money in the Bank Ladder Match for WWE Championship- 2013

The 2023 Money in the Bank Ladder Match was held separately for Raw and SmackDown roster, where the Raw superstars fought for the WWE Championship contract and the SmackDown Superstars fought for the World Heavyweight Championship contract. Money in the Bank ladder match on the Raw side was more interesting when compared to the SmackDown side.

The WWE Championship MITB match involved superstars including Sheamus, CM Punk, Randy Orton, Christian, Daniel Bryan and Rob Van Dam. The match involved multiple storylines and feuds mixed with the eager to win the spot for the championship opportunity. It was the rise of Daniel Bryan and he has been one of the fan favorites to win the MITB briefcase.

CM Punk on the other hand, being the Paul Heyman guy just lost his WWE Championship and looking to regain his momentum. He had the stage set to capture the MITb briefcase for the third time, but Heyman turned on him and chose Curtis Axel over Punk. This paved the way for Orton to climb the ladder and clench the MITB briefcase.

4. Money in the Bank Ladder Match- 2009

The 2009 Money in the Bank Ladder Match was held at WrestleMania XXV. Christian, CM Punk, Finlay, Kane, Kofi Kingston, Mark Henry, MVP and Shelton Benjamin participated in the match to win the MITB contract. Although the match lacked storyline, it showcased some of the real talents in the ring.

No one wasted their time and opportunity and had primary focus to hurt others and grab the briefcase. Benjamin, Kingston and Christian left their bodies on the line and took risks on the ladders. Powerhouses like Kane and Henry destroyed others through strength. The match is quite exciting where no one knows who will win the briefcase. However, CM Punk found a path to reach for the contract and win the MITB briefcase for the second time in a row. 

3. Money in the Bank Ladder Match- 2014

It was the time where Authority was in the control of WWE and Rollins turned on the Shield. The match features stars including Seth Rollins, RVD, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston and Dean Ambrose. The main feud in the match was between Ambrose and Rollins and Ambrose was the baby face and the fans favorite to win the contract.

Ambrose and Rollins had a brawl where both punished each other. Ambrose took Rollins with the chair to win the briefcase, however Kane interfered in the middle of the match, and choke slammed Ambrose. This helped Rollins to win the MITB briefcase with the help of Authority.

2. Money in the Bank Ladder Match- 2007

The 2007 Money in the Bank Ladder Match was held at WrestleMania XXIII. This was the third Money in the Bank which involves Jeff Hardy, king Booker, Finlay, CM Punk, Mr. Kennedy, Randy Orton and Edge. Every superstar was pushed to the limit and literally punished each other. The key highlights of the match was Matt Hardy teasing Booker-T by grabbing Sharmell to hit her with a twist of fate, Hardy destroying the edge with a leg drop from the ladder and Hornswoggle trying to steal the contract.

Mr. Kennedy won the match by nailing Hornswoggle with a Green Bay Plunge from the ladder, and climbing the ladder to win the briefcase. Kennedy was about to get a push for the top card but WWE dropped the plan as multiple injuries ruined it.

1. Money in the Bank Ladder Match- 2005

The 2005 Money in the Bank Ladder match was held at WrestleMania XXI. This is the first ever MITB ladder match which involves Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Christian, Kane, Edge, and Shelton Benjamin. The first MITB match created a huge expectation among the fans and it delivered the perfect layout for the match. Chris Jericho being the founder of the match is the favorite to win the match.

The match witnessed some of the brutal violence, where Jericho dropped a ladder on Edge's Chest, Benjamin's high flying attacks with the ladders, Kane trying to break Benoit's arm, Christian crashing into the ropes and so on. Benoit had the opportunity to win the briefcase, however Edge sneaked into the ring and attacked Benoit on the hurt arm. Benoit rolled out in pain, freeing the stage where Edge climbed and unhooked the briefcase to be the first MITB winner.
