Top 11 WWE Superstars with most WrestleMania main events in history

The Grandest stage of ’em all is the pinnacle of pro wrestling!
Main eventing a pay-per-view in the world’s biggest promotion is always a dream for all the pro-wrestlers. However, the main eventing in the grandest stage of them all ‘WWE WrestleMania’ is a living dream for each and every wrestler.
But some wrestlers have done it on multiple occasions. Here we take a look at the top eleven WWE Superstars with most WrestleMania main events in history.
11. Bret “The Hitman” Hart- 3 (tied)
Bret Hart stands at the eleventh position in our list by main-eventing WrestleMania three times. Since Hogan left the company in 1993, Bret Hart occupied the position of face of the company. His first main event was at WrestleMania 9, where The Hitman lost to Yokozuna.
However, he took revenge by defeating him next year at WrestleMania X to become the WWE Champion. Hart’s last WrestleMania main event was at WrestleMania 12, where Hart faced Shawn Michaels in a 60-Minute Iron Man Match, where Michaels won with 1-0 lead.

10. Cody Rhodes – 3 (tied)
‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes stands in the tenth position on this list, while he has recently started featuring in main events of WWE PLEs Rhodes has headlined three Mania PLEs. Over the past two years, he has headlined the Mania PLE three times, including two back-to-back main events last year.
At WrestleMania 40, Cody teamed up with Seth Rollins to battle Roman Reigns and The Rock in the main event of Night one, while he battle Reigns for the Undisputed WWE title on the second night of the 40th edition.
9. Stone Cold Steve Austin- 4
Stone Cold Steve Austin has main-evented WrestleMania four times. He is the Anti-hero, who has become the top card wrestler towards the end of his career. His first WrestleMania main event was at WrestleMania 14, where he defeated Shawn Michaels to become the WWF Champion by the influence of Special enforcer Mike Tyson.
His second main event was next year at WrestleMania XV, where Austin defeated The Rock to become WWF Champion with Mankind as a special guest referee. Austin’s third main event was at WrestleMania X7, where Austin defeated The Rock in a No Disqualification match for the WWF Championship. His final main event was at WrestleMania 38 Night 1 after 21 years, where Austin defeated Kevin Owens in a No Holds Barred match.

8. The Rock- 5 (tied)
“The Great One” The Rock main evented WrestleMania five times, two times each against Stone Cold Steve Austin and John Cena, one time in a Fatal 4-Way against Triple H, Mick Foley & Big Show. He main evented WrestleMania three times in a row, where he faced Stone Cold at WrestleMania XV and WrestleMania X7, Fatal 4-Way match at WrestleMania 2000 and against John Cena at WrestleMania XXVIII & at WrestleMania XXIX.
7. Brock Lesnar- 5 (tied)
Brock Lesnar equals The Rock with five WrestleMania main events. The Beast Incarnate main-evented WrestleMania for the first time at WrestleMania XIX against Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship and won. His second main event came after 12 years at WrestleMania 31 against Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. Lesnar’s third Mania main event was at WrestleMania 34, where Brock Lesnar defeated Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship.
His fourth main event was at WrestleMania 36 Night 2, where Brock Lesnar lost his WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre. Lesnar’s last Mania main event so far is at WrestleMania 38, where Lesnar lost to Roman Reigns in a Champion vs Champion Winner takes all match.
6. The Undertaker- 5 (tied)
“The Phenom” Undertaker is one who wrestled most of the WrestleMania matches and maintained a winning streak for a long time. However, The Undertaker main evented WrestleMania 5 times. The Deadman faced Edge at WrestleMania 24 to become the World Heavyweight Champion. At WrestleMania 25, there were three main event matches, one involved Undertaker and Shawn Michaels.
At WrestleMania 26, the duo again collided with Career and Streak in line. After his streak ended, his first main event match was against Roman Reigns, where he lost again. At WrestleMania 36 Night 1, he defeated AJ Styles in a cinematic match, which is also the farewell match of the Phenom.
5. Shawn Michaels- 5 (tied)
“The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels main evented WrestleMania 5 times in which he lost all. Since, Michaels is known for main eventing WrestleMania for so many times, he was called “Mr.WrestleMania”, Michaels first main event was at WrestleMania 12 against Bret Hart for the WWF Championship, his second was against Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 14 for WWF Championship.
Third was against Triple H & Chris Benoit at WrestleMania 20 for World Heavyweight Championship, fourth against John Cena for WWE Championship, final main event was against Undertaker at WrestleMania 26, where he defended his career on the line and lost, which became his farewell match.

4. John Cena- 6
“The GOAT” John Cena also has main evented WrestleMania five times and will now headline his sixth and final main event at WrestleMania 41. All his WrestleMania main events were against some of the big names such as The Rock, Triple H, Shawn Michaels and The Miz. John Cena faced Shawn Michaels and Triple H and retained his WWE Championship at WrestleMania 22 and WrestleMania 23. At WrestleMania 27, Cena faced The Miz for the WWE Championship and lost. At WrestleMania 28 and 29, Cena faced The Rock and lost the first time and won the second time.
3. Triple H- 7
“The Game” Triple H featured in the main event of WrestleMania seven times. He had the second most matches in WrestleMania with the second most wins and most number of losses. Triple H’s first WrestleMania main event was at WrestleMania X8 where he defeated Chris Jericho for the Undisputed WWF Championship. He then main evented three WrestleMania in a row, WrestleMania XX against Chris Benoit, WrestleMania XXI against Batista, WrestleMania 22 against Cena, in which he lost all.
At WrestleMania 25, Triple H successfully defended his WWE Championship against Randy Orton at the main event. At Wrestlemania 32, Triple H lost his WWE World Championship to Roman Reigns which is his last main event.
2. Hulk Hogan- 8
“Hollywood” Hulk Hogan stands at the 2nd spot of WWE superstars with most number of WrestleMania main events. He main-evented eight WrestleMania shows of the first nine, for which he was called “HulkaMania”.
Hogan faced Roddy Piper & Paul Orndoff by teaming with Mr. T at WrestleMania 1, King Kong Bundy at WrestleMania II, Andre The Giant at WrestleMania III, Randy Savage at WrestleMania V, Ultimate Warrior at WrestleMania VI, Sgt. Slaughter at WrestleMania VII, and Sycho Sid at WrestleMania VII at the main event of WrestleMania.
1. Roman Reigns- 10
Roman Reigns has the most number of WrestleMania main event matches. Roman Reigns main evented a total of 7 WrestleMania equalling Triple H, however, his active career placed him in the first spot with 10 Mania main events. Roman featured in four consecutive WrestleMania main events, WrestleMania 31 against Brock Lesnar, Triple H at WrestleMania 32, The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33, and Lesnar at WrestleMania 34.
After a change of gimmick, Roman Reigns main evented three WrestleMania in a row, WrestleMania 37 against Edge & Daniel Bryan, WrestleMania 38 against Brock Lesnar, and WrestleMania 39 against Cody Rhodes, in which he successfully defended the Universal Championship in all the three under the same reign.
Roman also main evented both nights of WrestleMania 40 and is set to main event Night 1 of WrestleMania 41, he currently holds the record for most WrestleMania main events in WWE history.
