Randy Orton & John Cena are being advertised for WWE Backlash 2025

Two of WWE’s biggest legends, John Cena and Randy Orton, are the only superstars officially advertised for WWE Backlash 2025 so far. And this can only mean one thing: a blockbuster clash could be brewing between the 16-time World Champion and The Viper, for the first time in years!

This isn’t just a random tease, WWE Backlash 2025 is set to go down on May 20 at the Enterprise Centre in St. Louis, Missouri, Orton’s hometown. The Apex Predator is even featured on the official event poster, all but confirming his presence in what could be a career-defining main event.

If the rumors and teases hold true, we could be witnessing a John Cena vs Randy Orton showdown with incredibly high stakes and a twist in roles.

This time, Cena is walking in as the heel, while Orton plays the babyface, a total reversal of their classic rivalry dynamic. Fans are already split down the middle, some loyal to the Greatest of All Time, others ready to rally behind the hometown hero.

But let’s talk strategy: If Triple H is booking this one smart, he won’t have The Viper lose in St. Louis. A major title change at WrestleMania could shake things up big time, and all signs are pointing toward that possibility.

With WrestleMania 41 just days away, all eyes are on the Undisputed WWE Championship match between Cena and Cody Rhodes. The promos have been nuclear, and the fanbase is buzzing to see who walks out of The Show of Shows with the gold.

Interestingly, Cody Rhodes is not advertised for the RAW after WrestleMania 41, which has fueled speculation that the title could change hands & possibly putting Cena at 17 world titles, breaking Ric Flair’s historic record. If that happens, it’s safe to assume that Cena will headline WWE Backlash.

And if Cena does win at WrestleMania, a title defense against Randy Orton at Backlash would be the obvious next chapter. The match would not only be a crowd-splitter, but it could go down as one of the most emotional and intense battles in recent WWE history.

WWE has yet to reveal the full card for Backlash 2025, but if Cena vs Orton is locked in, it’s already a must-watch. With Backlash becoming one of the key fallout shows after WrestleMania, fans can expect more surprises, major storylines exploding into action, and perhaps, the final chapter in one of WWE’s most iconic rivalries.
