Bray Wyatt was one of the beloved WWE wrestlers in the wrestling industry with a great in-ring talent and a creative mind. He was one of the few wrestlers who entertained people with terrifying gimmicks and mystical storylines. As Wyatt passed away earlier today from a prolonged illness, we recall some of the best matches of Wyatt’s career. Here is a small tribute to Wyatt, as we list the top 10 greatest WWE matches of Bray Wyatt’s memorable career.
10. Ultimate Deletion with Matt Hardy
“Woken” Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt had a great rivalry in 2018, where Matt challenged Wyatt in an Ultimate deletion match at the Hardy Compound. The ring was set in the backyard with the piano played in the background and Drone flying around. They fought their way to the darkness, throughout the field. Matt countered Wyatt’s attack by playing mind games. Jeff Hardy with the Absolution gimmick appeared, where Matt Hardy won the match and pushed Wyatt into the lake of reincarnation. Although Wyatt lost the match, it showcased extreme fun.
9. Winning the Tag Titles with Orton
Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton had a Tom and Jerry relationship in 2016, where at one point Orton joined The Wyatt Family gaining the trust of Bray Wyatt. Orton and Wyatt won the Survivor Series match representing SmackDown.
On the other hand The American Alpha became the #1 Contenders for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. Where Wyatt and Orton confronted them and successfully challenged for the #1 Contender spot. Wyatt and Orton faced Rhyno and Heath Slater for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at Payback and won. Which marks the first championship win for Bray Wyatt in WWE.
8. Firefly Funhouse Match
John Cena, who appeared on the Raw reunion had almost given a farewell speech as he had no role to do at WrestleMania 36. However after he spoke the light went out and The Fiend appeared behind him. Wyatt then challenged John Cena for a Firefly Fun House Match at WrestleMania.
The Firefly Fun House match took place in a dramatic way, where they got teleported to some of the iconic moments of WWE in the past such as John Cena’s debut, nWo Monday Nitro and many more. The match ended when The Fiend pinned Cena in the center of the ring, with normal Bray Wyatt as the referee.
7. Ring of Fire Match
The Wyatt Family made their main roster debut by attacking Kane after his match with Christian to remove him from participating at the Money in the Bank Ladder match. They continued their assault on Kane three weeks later, which pissed him off and he challenged Wyatt for a Ring of Fire Match (Inferno) at SummerSlam.
As soon as the bell rang, the squared circle was surrounded with fire. Kane had the upper hand at the initial stage of the match as he dropped three Chokeslam on Wyatt. However when measuring for the Tombstone Piledriver, Harper and Rowan overcame the flame by a blanket. Where Wyatt hit Kane with Sister Abigail for the win. After the match Harper and Rowan attacked Kane.
6. The Fiend’s Debut Match
Since Wyatt returned to WWE in 2019, he was seen as a babyface Firefly Funhouse gimmick, however he showcased his sinister alter ego of him by attacking Finn Balor after his match. Balor challenged Wyatt for a match at SummerSlam and he accepted it.
The Fiend horrified the WWE Universe, as it is the debut match for The Fiend. Wyatt dominated throughout the match and at the end The Fiend countered Balor’s Coup de Grace with the Mandible Claw to pin for the win.
5. Wyatt vs Cena Steel Cage Match- Extreme Rules 2014
John Cena and Bray Wyatt had a long term feud in 2014, where Cena said that Wyatt is nothing without Harper and Rowan. To prove him wrong, Cena challenged Wyatt for a Steel Cage match. Wyat played multiple mind games before the ppv by bringing children with sheep masks singing “He has the whole world in his hands”.
At Extreme Rules, Harper attacked Cena by climbing the top of the cage and fell inside. Cena hit Wyatt with a “Super-AA” but Harper stopped. Cena battled with all the three inside the cage, when he tried to walk through the gate, light went out and a demonic child appeared on the gate singing “He’s got the whole world in his hands”, which made Cena fear. Wyatt then hit Cena with Sister Abigail for the win.
4. The Wyatt Family vs The Shield- Elimination Chamber 2014
The Shield cost The Wyatt Family’s Elimination Chamber match opportunity, which eventually made into a 6-man tag team match at Elimination Chamber.
The match went as a brawl between the two teams, during the match Wyatt and Ambrose fought through the WWE Universe, while Harper and Rowan threw Rollins over the commentary desk. Roman fought against all the three and while measuring Wyatt for the spear, Harper sacrificed his body and made Wyatt hit Roman with Sister Abigail for the win.
3. Wyatt vs Bryan at Royal Rumble 2014
The Wyatt Family and Daniel Bryan had been in a feud, where Wyatt forced Bryan to join the Wyatt Family and kept torturing him. Bryan announced that he would join the Wyatt Family. After which Bryan and Wyatt had a steel cage match against The Usos and lost. After which Bryan turned on Wyatt by hitting him with a flying knee finishing move, which led to a match at Royal Rumble.
At Royal Rumble, the referee sent Harper and Rowan backstage as they tried to interfere with the match. Wyatt targeted the skull of Bryan during the initial stage, but Bryan escaped and countered him with the Yes! Lock. Wyatt bit Bryan ‘s hand to escape the submission. Wyatt then hit him with Sister Abigail to the barricade and another inside the ring and won the match.
2. First Universal Championship
The Fiend began a feud with the Universal Champion, Seth Rollins and had a match inside the cell at Hell in a Cell. The match went violent and resulted in a referee stoppage as The Fiend buried Rollins under multiple weapons and hit with a hammer. When officials came to check on Rollins, Wyatt incapacitated with the Mandible Claw.
The rematch was then booked at the Crown Jewel ppv, with the Falls Count Anywhere Stipulation. The fiend played mind games during the match by switching corners during the start. During the match, Rollins and Wyatt fought their way towards the entrance ramp, where Rollins hit multiple Stomps on Fiend, which made Field fall into the electrical equipment and that started a fire. The Fiend then appeared behind Rollins and hit him with a Mandible Claw and Sister Abigail to win the Universal Championship for the first time.
1. WWE Championship Win
The WWE Championship was defended in the Elimination Chamber, where John Cena the champ fought against Bray Wyatt, The Miz, AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin. Corbin got eliminated by Ambrose, who attacked Ambrose before leaving the Chamber, The Miz quickly entered and eliminated Ambrose, The Miz was then eliminated by Cena. Wyatt and Styles targeted Cena and Wyatt eliminated the champ after Sister Abigail. Styles and Wyatt became the final two members, where Wyatt countered the Phenomenal Forearm into Sister Abigail to win the WWE Championship for the first time.
