WWE Rumors: Many employees expecting to be fired within next few weeks
In April 2023, WWE officially announced that they are planning to sell 52% of their stakes to UFC‘s parent company Endeavor. The deal was in talks for months and the papers had been filed earlier this month. As previously reported, WWE-UFC is said to merge under Endeavor in the following months, as the paperworks has been finalized by the Board of Directors.
It was reported that the new TKO Holdings Group will be launched and it would be the new home of the two companies. Although it is great news for the investors, who are bound to make a marginal profit, the employees are in fear of losing their jobs.
WWE employees in trouble
According to PWInsider, WWE Employees are currently in fear as there is reported to be a sense of “gloom and doom” within the company. The Employees fear that, if they weren’t part of the production or not involved with the WWE talent, they are most likely to lose their job as the company is looking to cut costs on unnecessary departments as a result of the merger.
Since Endeavor already has certain departments, they might fire the department completely and run with their own employees. As most of the WWE employees are already aware of the situation, it is reported that they are already seeking for a next job. It is unclear exactly how many members would be fired in the following weeks, but the cost cut has been previously proposed by the Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel to reduce redundancy.
PWInsider also added that the expected layoff has been a huge talking point among the Employees working in WWE Headquarters, Stamford, Connecticut. PWI is quite unsure whether the cost cuts applies only to the employees or will be extended to WWE talents on the road.
WWE is no stranger to the cost cuttings and firings, the most recent cost cut during the pandemic had a huge impact on the company. However the cost cutting after the new deal is expected to be more impactful than the previous ones.
