WWE Superstar Spectacle event in India: Everything you need to know
WWE first toured India in 1996
WWE first toured India in 1996 and hosted his first show named “WWE Tour of India” at Mumbai Maharashtra where Bret Hart and Tantaka fought for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship at the main event. They hosted three events in India on their second tour in 2002 at New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore featuring WWE Superstars from Raw roster and the event was named “WWE Raw Tour of India”.
It took almost 14 years for the Stamford based promotion to host their third tour in 2016, which was held at New Delhi. WWE continued to tour India the following year in 2017 when Jinder Mahal was the WWE Champion, who fought against Triple H in the main event, which was the last event to be held on Indian soil. In 2021, WWE planned to host “WWE Superstar Spectacle” but due to COVID19 restrictions, the show was pre-taped at “Thunderdome” bubble in Florida and was telecasted as a special show on India’s Republic Day.
Although the event was not held in India, a number of Indian wrestlers were featured including, JInder Mahal, The Bollywood Boyz, The Indus Sher, Jeet Rama, Kavita Devi, Dilsher hanky and more. This year WWE is said to return to India and is said to host the first live house show since 2017. So here are the complete details of the WWE Superstar Spectacle 2023 in India.
