WWE Superstars who passed away in 2023

Over the years, Professional wrestling has evolved a lot, where wrestlers are treated as idol’s and close to their heart. The wrestlers sacrifice everything on the ring to entertain their fans and make them happy. However there are certain instances where the wrestlers make the whole world cry in sorrow. One such is the death, which permanently separates the wrestlers from the world. Here is the list of WWE Superstars who passed away in 2023.

Bray Wyatt (36)

Bray Wyatt was one of the most popular WWE Superstars with millions of fan following across the world. He was one of the successful professional wrestlers who won the WWE Championship and Universal Championship. He is best known for his creative storytelling and terrifying gimmicks. He had his last match at the 2023 Royal Rumble and was removed from the television due to illness. On August 24, 2023, Bray Wyatt passed away at the age of 36 due to a Heart Attack after COVID19 complications.

Terry Funk (79)

Terry Funk is a WWE Hall of Famer, who was known for his time in WWE and WCW in the 1980’s and 1990’s. He is one of the few wrestlers who had a 50+ years of professional wrestling career. He is known for the hardcore style of wrestling, which made him widely popular. WWE inducted him into the Hall of Fame Class of 2009 to honor his contributions to the wrestling industry. He wrestled his last match in 2017 and retired from in-ring action. Funk suffered from Dementia and lived an assisted life since 2021 and died on August 23, 2023 at the age of 79.

The Iron Sheik (81)

Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri popularly known as The Iron Sheik was an Iranian-American professional wrestler who was known for his time in 1980’s and 1990’s while wrestling for WWF and WCW. He was a heel wrestler during the 80’s, where he had a great rivalry with Hulk Hogan, which made him so popular. He was inducted into WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 and retired in 2010. He passed away on July 7, 2023 due to cardiac arrest with congestive heart failure and hypertension.

Droz (54)

Darren Adrian Drozdov was an American Professional wrestler who wrestled for WWF in late 1990’s under the name Drozdov (Droz) and had a brief run. He suffered a career-ending neck injury in 1999 where he lost movement below the neck for a while and regained movements then anf continued as a writer in WWE. He died on June 30, 2023 at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center at the age of 54.

Peggy Lee Flower (64)

Peggy Lee Flower was an American professional wrestler known under the ring name Peggy Lee Leather, Lady X and Thug. She was known for her time in WWF and WCW, where she was the WWF Women’s Champion. She wrestled for multiple wrestling promotions and got retired in 2013. She died on May 22, 2023 at the age of 64.

“Superstar” Billy Graham (79)

Eldridge Wayne Coleman Jr. known by his in-ring name “Superstar” Billy Graham was an American professional wrestler and a bodybuilder. He was known for his time in WWWF / WWF / WWE. His run as a WWWF Heavyweight Champion during the 1970’s gained recognition for his career. He was working with WWE under the legend contract from 2015. Graham had multiple health issues, where he was hospitalized in January 2023 for ear and skull infection, which got worse. In May 17, 2023 he died due to sepsis and multiple organ failure at the age of 79.

Jerry Jarrett (80)

Jerry Jarrett was an American Professional Wrestler, known for his time in CWA, WWF, WCW and as the co-founder of NWA: TNA. He and his son Jeff Jarrett associated with multiple wrestling promotions and wrestlers and was known as “Wrestling Genius”. He died on February 14, 2023 at the age of 80 due to Heart Attack while on the treatment of Esophageal Cancer.

Bushwhacker Butch (78)

Bushwhacker Butch was a New Zealander professional wrestler and a WWE Hall of Famer. He wrestled for WWF during the late 80’s and early 90’s. He retired from wrestling in 2001. On April 2, 2023 he died in a hospital in Los Angeles, California, when he traveled to participate in the WrestleMania 39 festival.
