WWE teases Champion vs Champion match for Survivor Series
Rhea Ripley has been a dominant Women's World Champion with a successful reign since WrestleMania 39. She defeated the 14 time champion Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women's Championship to start her reign. She eventually got promoted as the Women's World Champion. On the SmackDown brand, IYO SKY won the 2023 Money in the Bank and successfully cashed-in against Bianca Belair at SummerSlam to become the WWE Women's Champion for the first time.
As Rhea continues to maintain an undefeated streak as a champion, IYO has lost two to three non-title matches being the women's champion. At this time, WWE teased a Champion vs Champion match on the desk.
Champion vs Champion
Last week on WWE SmackDown at Boston, WWE Women's Champion IYO SKY and Bayley had a match against Charlotte Flair and Shotzi Blackheart. Where IYO and Bayley lost the match after the distraction of Asuka.
During the match, WWE Commentator Michael Cole on the desk stated that IYO SKY has been frustrated already as the WWE Women's Champion bg gaining less attention than Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley.
WWE fans noted that and kept rumoring that it could be WWE's way of teasing a Champion vs Champion match in the future, especially at Survivor Series.
WWE usually makes a Champion vs Champion match at Survivor Series where champions from both Raw and SmackDown brand battle against each other to prove their brand domination. So this might be a tease for a match between them at Survivor Series. Following Fastlane, Survivor Series is the next big premium live event as it strengthens the rumors. However IYO will defend her championship against Asuka in a rematch at Fastlane and Rhea will defend her championship against Raquel in the upcoming episode of Raw.
Rhea Ripley vs IYO SKY at WWE Survivor Series
It is worth to note that last year at Survivor Series IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley were on the same page as Rhea allied with Damage CTRL to take part in the War Games match. Rhea Ripley vs IYO SKY for a Champion vs Champion match could be a great contest and will be a visual treat for WWE fans. However, we need to wait until the road to Survivor Series.
