Potential reason revealed behind Matt Riddle’s WWE release

Matt Riddle has been in WWE since 2018 and had a pretty decent run with the company as one of the top babyfaces. He was known for his tag team alliance with Randy Orton (RK-Bro), where they were two-time Raw Tag Team Champions. After Orton went for back surgery, Riddle became a singles wrestler and finally came closer to form a tag team alliance with Drew McIntyre.
But he was released from the company on September 22, 2023 as a part of WWE Layoff following the TKO merger. Now a backstage report on the potential reason behind Matt Riddle’s WWE release was circulating around the internet.
Reason behind Riddle’s release
Fightful Select has reported after hearing from WWE Official, that Matt Riddle was released from the company due to the fact that he burnt through a number of chances while in WWE.
Fightful also reported following his absence on the last episode of Raw stating that Matt Riddle was not available on WWE Raw as he was sexually assaulted by Airport Authorities in JFK.
Matt Riddle has been through multiple controversies throughout his run by developing heat with WWE stars such as Gold Berg, Brock Lesnar and Seth Rollins. He was also warned by the company for crossing the wellness terms and got suspended.
Additionally, he had a messy exit from UFC during his run as a Mixed Martial Artist and this might be a reason behind his release following WWE's merger with UFC (TKO).
