Vince McMahon’s new role in TKO Group holds veto power
WWE has officially merged with UFC under TKO Group holdings on September 12, 2023. As the merger is done, UFC's parent company Endeavor holds majority of the stakes in TKO with 51% holdings, with McMahon WWE Shareholders own 49%, where McMahon holds 34% stakes. As the major control was on the Endeavor side, a lot of changes in terms were expected in WWE products. However, it is reported that McMahon is given a major role and powers in TKO Group.
Executive Chairman of TKO
It was reported that Vince McMahon has now become the Executive Chairman of the TKO Group as one of the five WWE representatives of the 11-member board.
As per TJRWrestling, McMahon in his new role holds veto power and he has all the power to be involved in the decision making of UFC. It would be very surprising if McMahon makes any changes to the UFC by using his Veto Power.
This is the first time since Vince's WWE acquisition, McMahon is having a head above him in the political hierarchy, as Ari Emanuel is the CEO of Endeavor and TKO Group Holdings.
WWE President Nick Khan says that McMahon was already considering the partnership when he attended a UFC event in July.
Nick Khan on a recent interview with ESPN said,
"It's not really his thing to go to basketball games, football games - it's just not what he does. When he decided, 'Yeah, I want to go,' and when he went, that's when I believe he started thinking about it, and it all started to manifest when we engaged in a fulsome process starting this past January."
