Since AEW launched in 2019, it broke the niche in pro-wrestling and became the direct competitor of WWE. It gained a lot of attention and gave creative freedom, which made a lot of wrestlers join AEW. Even top WWE stars left the Stamford based company & joined AEW. However, things started to change, as wrestlers from AEW are now starting to move to WWE on a rapid basis. A recent report suggests that WWE is looking to sign several key signings by the end of the year. Here are the AEW stars who could follow Jade Cargill to WWE in the near future,

WWE to sign AEW’s “key” stars

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, a number of AEW contracts are about to expire by the end of 2023 and WWE will be looking for a deal to pick the key ones to WWE. The report also referenced Jade Cargill's WWE signing as important and she's not the last person to jump ship.

Wrestling Observer Radio report,

"Several AEW contracts will be up at the end of the year, and WWE will be looking to sign all of the "key ones". WWE's creative for Jade Cargill has been deemed as important, as "she's not going to be the last person" to jump ship." [h/t Wrestle Features]

Who could WWE Sign?

If WWE looks to hire key AEW stars upon their contract expiring, here are some of them who might result in signing with WWE.

MJF

The current AEW World Champion MJF, has shown interest to wrestle for WWE on multiple occasions even on AEW television. As his contract is expiring on January 1, 2023, he might be signed to WWE with a huge deal. MJF already speculated that after his contract expires, he would be involved in a big bid war amongst the promotion, which might end in favour of WWE.

Paul Wight / Big Show

Big Show left WWE and joined AEW in 2021, where he has been the backstage producer, commentator and a part-time wrestler. Since his contract is about to expire in January 2024, he would be signed by WWE and would be booked as a backstage producer and occasional wrestler in WWE, & thereby inducting him to the Hall of Fame.

Samoa Joe

Samoa Joe was released from WWE in 2021 considering his frequent injuries and absence from television. However, Joe seems to be a regular in the ring and is having a great run in ROH & AEW. As his contract is expected to expire by the end of 2023, WWE could bring back this versatile wrestler to the company.

Wheeler Yuta

Since WWE is promoting young talents to great heights by giving them more television space and great push. It would be a steal for the company to sign Wheeler Yuta. The 26 year old is one of the highly talented AEW stars, who shares the spotlight with some of the great former WWE talents such as Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli. His contract with AEW is expected to expire by the end of 2023 and it might result in signing with WWE.

Will Ospreay

Will Ospreay is a highly talented superstar of NJPW, who appears on AEW via the promotions crossovers. His contract with NJPW is expected to expire by February 2024 and would be a great deal for WWE to pull Cody Rhodes' kind of talent from NJPW.
