WWE to bring back War Games for Survivor Series 2023

The 2023 WWE Survivor Series is the upcoming WWE pay-per-view. Survivor Series is considered as one of the “Big Five” pay-per-views of WWE and is the second longest annual event. This will be the 37th annual Survivor Series. This year Survivor Series will be held on November 25, 2023 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.

Since this is the last PLE of WWE in 2023, the event carries huge expectations among wrestling fans. Since announcing the date and venue of the 2023 Survivor Series, there were numerous rumors about the event. At this stage an important backstage update was reported, which could boost the hype for the event.

Survivor Series War Games 2023

WWE brought the War Games match to the main roster last year at Survivor Series in Boston with “War Games” Tagline. As fans were eager to know whether War Games will be featured in this year’s Survivor series or not, Fightful Select reported that WWE will bring back War Games to the 2023 Survivor Series annual premium live event this year.

The reports suggest that The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damien Priest, Dominik Mysterio) will feature in the War Games match, but the details are far away from confirmation. It is also said that there was no word on the Women's War Games match on whether it will take place or not.

War Games

War Games match is a specialized steel cage match, where two teams with four or more than four wrestlers on each side will enter the cane one-by-one until all gets-into the ring to start the match. The match was first introduced in 1987 at NWA-JCP’s Great American Bash. WWE revived the concept in 2017 and was a primary PPV of the NXT brand until 2021.

In 2022, the War Games Match was brought to the main roster for the very first time replacing traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match. If War Games hosted this year, this will be the second Survivor Series featuring a War Games match.
