WWE received over $50m for Crown Jewel 2023 event

WWE announced that it will be hosting shows in Saudi Arabia in 2013 and held its first show in April 2014. WWE continued to host shows in Saudi Arabia and signed a 10 year deal with the Ministry of Sport in 2018 to support Saudi Vision 2023 economic reform. WWE then made it one of the hosts to host two pay-per-views a year in Jeddah and Riyadh.
WWE got a huge support from Arabian crowds and got a lot more from hosting the events. WWE recently hosted WWE Crown Jewel 2023 at Mohammed Abdu Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. At this stage, an approximate amount of money that the company generated by hosting the Crown Jewel has been revealed.
Crown Jewel is $Money$
According to Brandon Thurston, WWE have earned over $50 million USD for the Crown Jewel 2023 live event, which is worth three WrestleMania ticket sales.
Brandon Thurston wrote on X,
”The Saudi government will pay WWE $50M+ for today’s #WWECrownJewel, the price for each event that’s part of their 10-year deal. $50M is equivalent to about 3 Wrestlemanias-worth of ticket sales. The government continues to punish critics, including Muhammad al-Ghamdi who was sentenced to death for tweets critical of the government.”
WWE will continue to host more events in Saudi Arabia in the upcoming years as a part of the 10-year deal with Saudi Arabia, which could bring a whole lot of money to the Stamford-based company in the long run.
WWE's New Home
Vince McMahon a week before, while appearing for Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou boxing match in Saudi Arabia said that this is the new home of WWE, as the place being the hub for Sports Entertainment.
“Everything they’re doing is so much. They’re delving into the superior aspects of all of sports entertainment. There is nothing going to bring.. Everything that is the best in the world, it’s going to be here. This is our home now. This has been pronounced, this our home, WWE’s home.”
Will Saudi Arabia become the new hub of the company, could we able to expect a grand PPV like WrestleMania and Summerslam there? We need to wait what the deal would be offering in the future
