Top five greatest WWE Royal Rumble matches of all time

The Royal Rumble match is one of the most anticipated matches with the battle royal rules. 30 members enter the ring with a 90-second gap between with the same goal to headline WrestleMania with a guaranteed World Championship opportunity.

Eliminations will occur when the person is thrown over the top rope and their both feet hit the floor. The match has a seperate fan base, making it one of the most-watched matches of all time. A total of 36 rumble matches have taken place so far and here we list the top five Royal Rumble matches in WWE History.

5. Royal Rumble 2016

The 2016 Royal Rumble is something unique where the WWE World Heavyweight Championship was forcefully defended by Roman Reigns on the order of Authority. Reigns entered the rumble first, AJ Styles made his WWE debut, Brock Lesnar eliminated by Wyatt Family, Triple H’s surprise entry and winning the 14th world title.

4. Royal Rumble 2010

The 2010 Royal Rumble is one of the most emotional rumble matches of all time. Shawn Michaels who was the people’s favorite entered the match with a goal to win and face Undertaker at WrestleMania. HBK eliminated a total of six, but unfortunately was eliminated by Batista. Michaels lost his mind and attacked everyone in the ring, losing his mind in disbelief. Apart from that “The Rated R Superstar”Edge made his WWE return after injury, Beth Phoenix entered the rumble, the Straight Edge CM Punk had 5 eliminations, John Cena did 4 eliminations and Edge won the rumble.

3. Men’s Royal Rumble 2020

One of the best Royal Rumble matches which had all the moments that the fans expect from the company. The WWE Champion Brock Lesnar entered the match first and eliminated the first 13 superstars straight to tie the most number of eliminations record and got eliminated by the eventual winner Drew McIntyre. WWE Hall of Famers, Edge and Christian Cage made their surprise return to the company. Ten wrestlers were eliminated within a minute and Drew McIntyre won the rumble match.

2. Royal Rumble 2001

The 2001 Royal Rumble is an absolute destruction, where the weapons came into play. Some of the iconic moments of the match include Kane setting the record for the most eliminations with 11 eliminations (7 straight), hardcore style of wrestling with the use of weapons, Big Show return, the Brothers of Destruction working as a team and Stone Cold winning the Rumble for the third time. 

1. Royal Rumble 2007

The most unforgettable Royal Rumble in the history of WWE, where Raw, SmackDown and ECW stars compete. Some of the most iconic moments include Great Khali eliminating 7 members, Viscera was eliminated by 10 superstars Edge, Randy Orton, Shawn Michaels and Undertaker stood last. The great storyline between Taker & Michaels was initiated, Sabu was chokeslammed through the tables and more. Undertaker won the match entering at 30.
