CM Punk & McIntyre had a face off, Cody Rhodes defeated Shinsuke Nakamura, Jinder Mahal wants the World title and more happened on Raw!

The January 08, 2024 episode of Monday Night Raw is officially over and it is one of the must watch episodes of Raw, which showcased some of the great matches and segments. There have been a lot of dramas, twists and turns that went through on Raw. Get to know what happened this Monday Night on Raw as we came out with the complete summary, highlights, results and ratings for January 8, 2024 episode of WWE Raw.

WWE Raw Summary & Highlights

Face off- CM Punk & Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre kicks off Monday Night Raw, he is already in the ring. Drew addresses his loss to Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. He said that Seth Rollins and Sami Zayn are correct that he himself had cost his own match. He think of this match over and over and thought of quitting the company for a while.

But he doesn’t lost clean Damian Priest was the one who cost him the match. He thought of leaving he company for nine years and return back to have hero reception (teasing CM Punk) and Punk came out to confront McIntyre. Punk says that he is in the Piper city, Piper is known for talking and so as Punk, but is McIntyre known for talking? He ask McIntyre to talk him right on the face.

McIntyre said,

“Congratulations, we’re going on just over a month & you’re still here — You used to walk in the locker room & say “as the locker room leader” because the locker room leader always has to announce it. You’re straight edge, you don’t have any demons, you are a demon.”

Punk responded stating tha he isn’t the demon and he’s the Satan himself. Punk says that no one can stop him from winning the Royal Rumble, neither Drew, Seth, or Cody. McIntyre announced that he also is going to enter Royal Rumble if Punk does and eliminate him & main event WrestleMania. Punk said that he will be nicer in the rumble and eliminate Drew last to win it.

Finn Balor vs Tommaso Ciampa

Before the next match, Tommaso Ciampa says that it is a long road for him and Johnny Gargano and that they must fight for what they want. He says that this is “must-win” and not “can’t lose,” and that they will become the next tag team champions.

As the match began, Finn Balor took the initial control and dominated Ciampa by taking him out of the ring. However, Ciampa turned the things during the commercial. Ciampa hit a reverse DDT on Balor and powerbombed him on his knee, breaking his back.

Finn kicks him to the corner and looks for a Coupe de Grace, but Ciampa rolled out and looks for a cross face. Damian Priest distracts and Gargano pulls his legs down. Priest tries for a Razer bomb Gargano, but Ciampa hit him with the knee to the face. As Ciampa enters the ring, Balor kicks the second rope to hit his nuts. But Ciampa rolled him for the win.

Winner: Tommaso Ciampa Ratings: 3.5/5

Backstage- Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch again declared that she is entering the Royal Rumble this year. Recalls what happened last time, when she stepped foot in Royal Rumble, which she won and main evented WrestleMania. She looks to do the same this year. She was asked about Nia Jax, to which Lynch says that she is not finished with her either.

Kofi Kingston vs Ludwig Kaiser

The match began with Kaiser landing a clothesline on Kofi and continues to torture him. Kaiser hit a couple of chops on Kofi, and both exchange chops. Kofi looks to take advantage, locking Kaiser for the punches to the face, but Kaiser pulled him off face first to the turnbuckle. Kaiser drove him to the ring post, Kofi fights back and Kaiser out. Kaiser countered Kofi’s suicide dive and threw him to the barricade and kicks hs face off, before the commercial.

Kaiser continues to dominate Kofi, but Kofi counters his move. Kofi sent him out and jumped him on the back. Kaiser pushed Kofi to the steel steps, but Kofi escaped it by jomping over. Kaiser pushed Kofi to the ring post and looks for an uppercut, but landed on the barricade. Kofi tried to enter the ring, but Kaiser stopped him for a double countout.

Post match: Kofi Kingston vs Ludwig Kaiser

Kofi super kicked Kaiser and continues to attack him, but Kaiser poke his eyes and tried to rip off him eyeballs from the socket. Kofi threw him over the commentary desk and he landed on the chairs. Securities urged to stop them, but Kaiser threw the Chair on Kofi. He took him over the steel stairs and securities separated him. Kaiser escaped them and lands a running drop kick on Kofi’s head to the stairs.

Winner: Double Countout Ratings: 3.8/5

Nia Jax & Rhea Ripley

Michael Cole calls out Nia Jax for an interview. Cole says that she shocked the WWE universe by breaking Becky Lynch’s mouth. Jax says that she is not shocked and she does what she does of breaking Becky’s face again. Jax says that she could even break Michael Cole’s face. She claims that 29 other women are taking her spot at Royal Rumble as she is the one that is going to win and dethrone Rhea Ripley and Ripley interrupts her.

Ripley says that Nia talks like she is the one, after defeating Becky, but Becky is not Rhea Ripley. Ripley says that she is already close to win, but Rhea was the one who eliminated her last year. Ripley says that if Nia wins, she doesn’t want her to chose her, by warning her. But Jax says that she indeed going to win and chose her for the Women’s World Champion.

Backstage Interview- Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes was giving an interview backstage and Shinsuke Nakamura attacked him. It becomes a brawl, but Raw General Manager, Adam Pearce stopped them with the securities. Pearce made the match between Cody Rhodes & Shinsuke Nakamura as the Street Fight on the main event of Raw.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

Kayden Carter and Chelsea Green started the match, where Carter took control of Green. Chance got the tag and she continues fo attack Green. As Niven came to attack, she was sent out. Karter was pulled out, Green took advantage, tags Niven in and she hit Chance with a cannon ball.

After the commercial, Chance sneaks to her corner and tags Carter in. Carter is fired up as she took Niven out, kicks Green on her face and took her to the top rope. Niven tries to stop her, but Chance kicks her out. Carter and Chance delivered a hurricanrana from the top rope.

Green looks for the unprettier, but Carter escapes, Green delivered a famouser, but ref got distracted and ended in two. She looks for unprettier again, but again got countered. Jax got tagged in and Green hit a code breaker and Niven hit a drop elbow on Carter.

Green and Niven took control of Carter. Niven went to the top tope for a splash. Chance pulled Carter out and Niven landed on Green. Chance took Niven out with a cross body from top rope. Chance and Carter hit their finishing move on Green and retained the championship.

Winner: Kayden Carter & Katana Chance Ratings: 3.8/5

R Truth Judgment Day video tape

R Truth produced a video package on behalf of The Judgment Day on Raw and says that when he born, he look it in the fsce of the doctor and said that one day he will be in the Judgment Day and it came through. JD is gone and they are real family now. He says that Judgment Day is all about live, laugh and love.

Judgment Day addressed the video package and looks to stop Truth from representing Judgment Day and Priest says that it will be done when times are right.

The Miz vs JD McDonagh

As soon as the match began, R Truth joined Dominik Mysterio to cheer up for the Judgment Day. McDonagh got distracted, which made The Miz gain the initial advantage of tbe match. McDonagh is sent out. Miz didn’t gave any room for JD to take advantage, but Dominik’s blind attack made McDonagh finally take advantage before the commercial.

After the commerical, McDonagh hit Miz with a spring board rolling splash and a step up enziguri. McDonagh and Miz exchange hands and Miz took the advantage with back to back strikes and the rumming clothesline. Miz hit the yes kick to McDonagh and starts to target his leg.

Miz locks McDonagh with the figure four lock, but McDonagh grabs the rope. McDonagh rolls out, but landed hard on his feet. Miz slided out with the drop kick and hit the Skull Crushing Finale on McDonagh for the win. Truth celebrates with The Miz and Judgment Day are losing their mind backstage.

Winner: The Miz Ratings: 4/5

Seth “Freakin” Rollins & Jinder Mahal

Seth Rollins address the WWE Universe and he welcomes them to Monday Night Rollins. He says that after the Royal Rumble, we will be on the road to WrestleMania. He had a pretty good record at WrestleMania, he done it all but never took World Heavyweight Championship to WrestleMania.

He has one thing in the mind on who he will be defeating at WrestleMania. He says that Cody may be but only on his dreams and says thaf Raw locker room is filled with competitors. Jinder Mahal interrupts him.

Mahal says that his five minute segment is enough to surpass Seth Rollins entire career. Mahal wants Rollins and the World Heavyweight Championship. He defeated Randy Orton to win the WWE Championship, one of the GOAT with ease.

Rollins says that indeed he was viral last week, but only for being attacked by The Rock. Rollins wants Mahal to have the moment of his life and asks to swimg on him. Mahal didn’t but attacked him from the back. Rollins and Mahal exchange hands, Mahal looks for Kalaas, Rollins escapes and super kicks him. When he looks for the stomp, Mahal escapes the ring. The segment resulted in the World Heavyweight Championship next week on WWE Raw.

Otis vs Ivar

Both the big men lock hands and clash on the middle of the ring. Otis took Ivar with the clothesline. Ivar seated Otis down. Ivar looked for a spring board cross body and Otis caught him and delivered a powerslam.

Ivar delivered a powerbomb and Otis took Ivar with the clothesline and caterpillar. Ivar hit Otis with a spinning heel kick and moonsault from the top rope for the win. After the match, Tozawa had a face off with Ivar and pushed him out of the ring.

Winner: Ivar Ratings: 4/5

Backstage

Jey Uso have a new year’s resolution of winning his first singles championship. Bronson Reed interrupted him and said that he also has the same goal for the year, and doesn’t want him to cross his path.

Street Fight: Cody Rhodes vs Shinsuke Nakamura

Nakamura slows down tha match with a slow start, but Cody is fired up. Rhodes punches Nakamura right on the face chased him to the entrance ramp and brought him back to the ringside area. Both fights throughout the ringside area and Cody hit Nakamura with the water bottle. Nakamura took the broom stick and landed strikes on Rhodes. Nakamura then brought the kendo stick and punishes Cody before the commercial.

After the commercial, Shinsuke landed on his knee and Cody took the kendo stick from him and landed a number of blows on Nakamura. Nakamura took the stick away and started to attack him with his bare hands. Nakamura continues to assault Cody, and make sure to lay him on the ground throughout the time. Cody tries to gain control, Nakamura hit the step up enziguri, Cody delivered a back burster and hut him with the disaster kick.

Cody introduces the table to the ring, but Nakamura attacked him from behind with the Nunchaku. Both tried to grab the steel chair from the time keepers area, where Nakamura accidentally poison mist the time keeper. Cody took Nakamura out and check on the time keeper. As cody returns to the ring side Nakamura toom control of him with the chair.

Nakamura continues to assault Cody with thr steel chair with thunderous strikes to the back. Nakamura stuck the chair between the ropes to send Cody face first tot he chair, but it got backfired. Cody sent Nakamura to the steel chair, delivered a bionic elbow and lays down the table. Nakamurs fights back and laid Cody on the table. Nakamura went to the middle rope and landed on Cody’s mid section with the knee to break the tables  but Cody kicked out the pinfall.

Nakamura took another table to the ring and lays it on the corner. Cody looks to fight back, but Nakamura pushed him to back to the chair hinged turnbuckle, a sliding suplex, and knee to the face, but not enough. Cody fights back and delivered a pedigree, but kicks out.

Cody delivered a Cody Cutter, but Nakamura kicks out the pinfall. Cody looks for the Cross Rhodes, Nakamura counters with a roll down. Nakamura looks for a Kinsasha, but Cody pushed him to the tables to break that, delivered Cross Rhodes and won the street fight.

Winner: Cody Rhodes Ratings: 4.5/5

This brings out to the end of this week’s episode of Raw, a number of matches announced for the next week including the World Heavyweigh Championship match between Seth Rollins & Jinder Mahal, The Miz & R Truth vs Damian Priest & Finn Balor, Gunther’s return, DIY vs JD McDonagh & Dominik Mysterio.
