Drew McIntyre has been feuding and challenging the top babyfaces of the company, claiming that he is the best among all. Drew’s one of the recent challengers was the consecutive Royal Rumble Winner, The American Nightmare, Cody Rhodes.

Drew challenged Cody for a singles match and it turned out to be one of the best matches of McIntyre’s career, where Drew not only won, but also joined Roman Reigns in setting a huge milestone.

Drew McIntyre defeated Cody Rhodes on Raw

On the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, Drew McIntyre challenged Cody Rhodes in a one-on-one match. WWE Raw General Manager Adam Pearce hours before the show announced that Cody Rhodes vs Drew McIntyre will kick-off the show. Both Crew & Cody delivered a tough fight where the momentum swung on both the sides.

Cody was so close to defeating Drew McIntyre, however Cody Rhodes was distracted by Jimmy Uso, which made Solo Sikoa Samoan Spike Cody, when the referee was diverted. Drew then used the situation to his favor and delivered a Claymore to win the match. This marks Cody Rhodes’ third singles match defeat after his return in 2022.

With this Drew McIntyre became the only second person to pin Cody Rhodes after Roman Reigns post-return. The irony of the sequence is that Solo Sikoa played a major role in costing both the matches.

The Last time when Cody got pinned was back at WrestleMania 39 Night 2, where Roman Reigns defeated Cody Rhodes by pinfall to retain the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship after a Samoan Spike from Solo Sikoa.

Cody Rhodes also lost a match to Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions, however it was due to a referee stoppage after Cody passed out to the submission hold.

Drew McIntyre reacted to his win by comparing both the sequences by saying “No chicken this time Cody. Just your tears. Hell of a fight, better luck next time”.

This win could positively impact Drew McIntyre in the Elimination Chamber and at WrestleMania, if he went on to challenge Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship. It is important to note that Drew McIntyre has defeated Rhodes, which the World Champion, Seth Rollins was not able to do.
