On the latest episode of Raw, there was a huge tease of Gunther’s WrestleMania opponent, where multiple wrestlers claimed the title shot.
Sami Zayn and Gunther had a face-off backstage, The Judgment Day confronted him in the ring, Chad Gable claimed a rematch and more. Although there isn’t any official decision made, a potential backstage spoiler has been dropped which suggests that we could be able to see a multi-starred Intercontinental Championship match at WrestleMania 40.

Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio reported that he had heard that Gunther vs Sami Zayn in a singles match, however after Monday Night Raw, he is clear that it could be a multi-person match at WrestleMania 40. Meltzer said they won’t do a battle royal but they could actually do as there were multiple people wanting the title shot.
Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio said,
“I heard of Gunther and Sami Zayn but when I watched the show tonight it was very clear that it could be a multi-person match because they had Chad Gable. Gunther mentioned R-Truth and The Miz and Gable and Sami. I don’t think they will do a battle royal but they could. But I mean Gunther, he seemed to be programmed with a lot of different people on the show.”
