List of superstars who joined WWE from AEW

Since AEW was launched in 2019, it has been striving to be a potential competitor of WWE. The company seems to be promising with fresh minds and a number of opportunities. Since the company started to boom right from the start, wrestlers across the globe started signing deals with AEW and neglecting equally competitive companies.
We have seen a lot of stars jumping ships to AEW, however, things started changing, where AEW stars are moving to the Stamford-based company. Here we list the former AEW stars who moved (or moved back) to WWE so far.

WWE Return from AEW
Cody Rhodes was the first major star to leave AEW for WWE in 2022. The American Nightmare, despite being one of the main reasons for the existence of AEW, left the company after his contract was terminated. Following Cody Rhodes, a number of wrestlers returned to the biggest promotion, including CM Punk, William Regal, Andrade, Blair Davenport and Shawn Spears.
Among the returns, Punk, Cody, and Andrade made their return to the main roster, however, Davenport and Shawn Spears made their way to NXT. William Regal had a brief tenure with AEW and made a big impact in the company by forming the Blackpool Combat Club and returning back for his managerial duties.
WWE Debut from AEW
Despite Superstars returning back to WWE, some AEW stars signed their debut contract with WWE, including Dragon Lee, Nathan Frazer, Jade Cargill, and Lexis King. Among the list, Jade Cargill, Rey Fenix and Penta were the only ones who debuted on the main roster directly, and the rest landed on NXT.
Former AEW Women’s World Champion, Mariah May, is the most recent addition to the list. She made her debut on the June 3 episode of WWE NXT, putting the entire division on notice with a short and impactful promo.
It seems like we could see a lot of stars switching promotions from AEW. Who do you think among them is the greatest signing? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
