A match of the year contender in January!

AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura once again reminded the WWE Universe why their rivalry remains timeless, delivering a gripping, methodical battle on Saturday Night’s Main Event. With Dan Engler officiating, Styles emerged victorious in a hard-fought contest that tested both men physically and psychologically.

The win could not have come at a more critical time for Styles, who now turns his focus toward a looming showdown with Gunther.

The bout began with caution and respect, as both men circled before locking up. Nakamura asserted early control with a side headlock, repeatedly grounding Styles and frustrating him with rope breaks and calculated pauses. When Styles taunted with a Bullet Club gesture, Nakamura mockingly “caught it” and shouted, “Come on!” igniting the crowd.

Momentum shifted briefly when Styles landed a dropkick and backbreaker, followed by shoulder thrusts in the corner. Nakamura responded by targeting Styles’ ribs, capitalizing after a forearm plancha left Styles clutching his side. A running knee to the ribs and a rear chin lock allowed Nakamura to dictate the pace, even gyrating with his foot on Styles’ chest in a display of confidence.

Styles fought back with a flurry that included a basement flying forearm, corner clothesline, and an Ushigoroshi for a near fall. A Styles Clash attempt was denied, however, as Nakamura countered with a scorpion kick and dropkick to regain control.

Nakamura’s relentless kicks and knee strikes punished Styles, including a flying knee off the ropes and a sliding German suplex. A Kinshasa attempt was stopped when Styles attacked the leg, leading to the first application of the Calf Crusher. Nakamura screamed in pain, refusing to tap as Styles demanded submission and cinched the hold tighter.

The match escalated into dramatic submission exchanges. Nakamura countered with a triangle choke, while Styles narrowly escaped and crushed him with a knee to the jaw. Both men traded forearms in the center of the ring, neither willing to back down. Styles landed a Pele Kick, but Nakamura answered with a running knee to the back of the neck.

Late drama peaked when Nakamura’s knee buckled during a Kinshasa attempt, allowing Styles to strike with one of Nakamura’s own weapons. Nakamura survived, reaching the rope, and nearly stole the match with a Death Valley Driver/Michinoku Driver combination.

In the end, Nakamura’s injured knee proved decisive. Styles snapped it off the ropes, connected with a Phenomenal Forearm, and finally drilled Nakamura with the Styles Clash for the pinfall.

Result: AJ Styles defeats Shinsuke Nakamura via pinfall.
