Last week on RAW, Styles cut an off-air promo during a commercial break that raised eyebrows across the wrestling world.

He lamented having no allies left after Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson’s departure, even suggesting that someone backstage wanted him out of WWE. Back-to-back losses to Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio further highlighted his frustration.

“No one brand made AJ Styles. It was ring time, experience, and the people I was in the ring with,” he wrote. The post appeared to reflect both pride and a level of discontent with how WWE views his contributions. While some fans saw it as a shoot on his current frustrations, others believe it’s part of a larger storyline playing out on television.

Mercedes Mone, one of AEW’s top stars, noticed the message and left a money-mouth emoji in response. While simple, the reaction signaled respect from the former Sasha Banks and added another layer of intrigue to the conversation surrounding Styles.

Eric Bischoff weighs in on AJ Styles’ RAW promo

Eric Bischoff, who has worked closely with Styles in the past, offered his perspective on the situation during his 83 Weeks podcast. He revealed that he nearly texted Styles after RAW to congratulate him on what he called an “awesome” promo.

Bischoff noted that it reminded him of AJ’s TNA days, when the homegrown star carried the company on his shoulders. He suggested the promo could be laying the groundwork for a compelling storyline in WWE rather than a genuine indication that Styles is unhappy.

“It reminded me of AJ back in TNA,” Bischoff said. “That was a big thing for him back then. Which is why I smell a story as opposed to a real issue. Could be wrong.”

Whether real or scripted, AJ Styles’ words have reignited discussion about his place in WWE and his future in the industry remains one of the most intriguing questions heading into the fall.
