WWE opens the forbidden door allowing AJ Styles to wrestle in NOAH’s Destination 2024
WWE recently shocked the wrestling industry with a collaboration with TNA Wrestling. Following that, it seems like WWE has extended its wings to collaborate with major Japanese promotions.
Last month, Yasuaki Okamoto, the new President of Pro-Wrestling NOAH’s parent company, CyberFight Inc. in his introductory press conference spoke about his goal to strengthen the relationship with WWE. It seems like both WWE & NOAH began their relationship with a cross-over, as the Stamford-based company sent a major star to NOAH for a match.
AJ Styles in Pro Wrestling NOAH
During NOAH’s recent event in Yokohama, ‘The Phenomenal One’ AJ Styles appeared on a video vignette to announce that he would be facing Naomichi Marufuji in a singles match at NOAH Destination on July 13, 2024 at the Budokan Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
AJ Styles said,
“This is WWE Superstar, The Phenomenal AJ Styles and I am here to announce that I will be coming to Japan to face Japanese legend Marufuji at the Budokan for the NOAH event on July 13th. Let’s tear the house down on July 13th”.
Following that pro Wrestling NOAH Global confirmed the match on X/Twitter saying,
“#Breaking A MAJOR announcement from NOAH & WWE! A special match between “The Genius of the Ark” @noah_marufuji & “THE PHENOMENAL ONE” AJ Styles is urgently scheduled!! How to order #ABEMA presents #DESTINATION2024 in the below tweet @WWE”
IYO SKY in Dream Star Fighting Marigold
Styles is not the only one to wrestle in the Japanese Promotion on July 13th. Earlier this week, IYO SKY appeared on the big screen at Dream Star Fighting Marigold’s 6/11 event at Korakuen Hall to challenge Utami Hayashishita for a singles match at Marigold’s Summer Destiny on July 13, 2024 at Ryogoku Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
WWE also sent Tatum Paxley to TNA Wrestling’s Against All Odds pay-per-view to challenge Jordynne Grace for the TNA Knockouts Championship and sent Lexis King to Reality of Wrestling for a match against the real-life Bloodline member, Zilla Fatu in a singles match at June 8th event ‘Powershift’ in Texas City.
It seems like we could see several crossovers in the upcoming feature with other promotions in the upcoming events.
